I have my books shelved roughly by size. Hardcover and softcover are segregated. I have a hardcover shelf of black books and another shelf for all othI have my books shelved roughly by size. Hardcover and softcover are segregated. I have a hardcover shelf of black books and another shelf for all other hardcovers. I discard all dust sleeves. UPDATE: I no longer shelve this way. I've put all fiction in one set of shelves, alphabetical by author. Nonfiction is broadly in categories, as best I can. Still discard dust sleeves (except Harvey & Lee) UPDATE 2: now fiction is all together (alphabetical-ish,) a couple shelves are hardcover nonfiction, totally uncategorized, and paperback nonfiction is sometimes categorized (Howard Hughes, gambling, deep state) and other times not. The little mass-market paperbacks are intermingled with the fiction but in a separate shelf for the nonfiction ...more
