I feel like i have never read a real horror novel that made my heart skip a beat and would like to change that. The appeal of the genre to me is that in reading there is no cheating, there are no easy jump scares like in movies. I don't have any real preference as to plot, but scifi/high fantasy is what I usually enjoy the most. Thanks!
