Such a book could be a romance novel with erotica or just fiction with a love story. Bonus if it includes vampires or fae. Series in which a people, race, or species is dying out & pregnancy/fertility is a goal would be good, too. I've already read (and love!) LKH's Merry Gentry, JR Ward's BDB, and Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series.
No werewolves/shifters. No contemporary/conventional settings. No Christine Feehan, Rebecca Zanetti, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Anne Rice, or Lara Adrian. Absolutely no Twilight....more

I'm a literary snob who can't seem to turn down a vampire novel no matter how terrible. I care a great deal about form as well as content, but if it comes down to one or the other, I can better tolerate poor form. Beautiful writing, no matter how beautiful, cannot redeem lackluster content.

I read in all genres except horror & mystery which rarely interest me, unless of course vampires are involved. Vampires can redeem virtually anything!
In terms of nonfiction I gravitate most towards the sciences and the esoteric; I've never been one for autobiographies, self-help, politics or post-Roman history, though I adore historical fiction and technically-oriented culinary writing. ...more

The pregnancy twist comes in the 2nd 1/2 of the novel, and has to do with individual romantic choices of women characters, vs need-to-save- species.

The protagonist is ..German. You may enjoy that. Its a horror novel, but stands alone as a work of atmospheric and 'brooding' literature. When you finally reach the climax. you will find it shocking in terms of concept. Sublime. No other book like it. Has a 'pregnancy' element too.The protagonist is ..German. You may enjoy that.
