Buddy reads - General discussion
Isn't she fun?I have Stormy Petrol kicking around somewhere at home, but I put a big dent in her back-list a couple of years ago. There's still the cottage books, The Ivy Tree, Airs Above the Ground, Thunder on the Right and This Rough Magic on my list. Library has them, so just need a few days heads up to get a hold placed and picked up.
Anyone else?

Count me in for more MS buddy reads. I either have (or can probably get from the library) any MS book we decide on. I would say let's not read Thunder on the Right though - it's really weak.
Sure, I'll do another Mary Stewart buddy read. The last one was a lot of fun. :DI actually have Nine Coaches Waiting on my book shelf and I've been eyeing it for a while now. But I know that Hannah has already read it, so we can pick something else. :)
It's hard to find one that Hannah or Misfit, or both, haven't read!
Jeannette wrote: "It's hard to find one that Hannah or Misfit, or both, haven't read!"I know! LOL
The only one I've read is MWYT. So whichever book you ladies pick is fine by me. I'm sure I can get it through the inner library program.
Willowfaerie wrote: "But I know that Hannah has already read it, so we can pick something else..."I've read them all, but it's been a while. You girls settle on one, and I'll jump in!
And if anyone ever finds a copy of The Wind off the Small Isles - let me know! It's the only one I can't locate (it was published in a woman's magazine waaay back).
Several copies out there for $50!

Oh no - I just ordered this book through paperbackswap! Oh well, at least it can be added to the collection.
The only books I've read lately by MS are Thornyhold, The Ivy Tree, MWYT and Wildfire at Midnight. But really I'm game for any book!
How did you decide before which to read? A poll?

Exactly - what a hoot!"
Well, I didn't mention the $1100 copies! Too bad I didn't hoard all those copies of Redbook from the 1970s my mother read. lol

We haven't done a poll as yet. So far we have two votes for Nine Coaches Waiting. :)
This Rough Magic is my favorite MS novel, though Airs Above the Ground is a close second, maybe because I love the circus.

My library has it, AND Misfit hasn't read it!

I've had This Rough Magic on my "to re-read" list for several years now, so I'd prefer that one, but Nine Coaches Waiting is also very good.
Well, I guess I'm not going to help with the decision - both sound equally wonderful! And I believe I have a copies...
Let's see what Willow has to say. If she can get This Rough Magic, I'm in!
Weekend after Valentine's Day, February 15, would work for me. :) Or, later, to wait for Willow. :) I'll go place my hold request.
I'm in. The book is waiting for me at the library. Now to finish the one I'm reading now, and a Rex Stout mystery before we start. I want to be in on this discussion from day 1. :)
This Rough Magic is my favorite Stewart (at least of the ones I've read so far), and I'd love a re-read, so count me in.

Good luck!
Good luck!
I'll need it. There's always the library, but I'd hate to waste resources if there's one on a shelf somewhere.
My friend Sara wants in, and I invited a second Laura this morning, too, but haven't heard back.
