The Great Gatsby, audiobook narrated by Anthony Heald is currently being offered for free by Blackstone Audio and Downpour.com, so if you like audiobooks and haven't read this one, you may wish to check this offer...
I would recommend the website www.tuebl.caIt has heaps of books for free, though you may need to download an application such as calibre to convert the books to the right format!
Thanks Jessica! I already downloaded two books that interested me at the moment. I wonder only is there a catch :)
At this stage I havent noticed one, you dont have to sign up or provide any personal details so there is no bombardment with emails or anything like that.As long as your happy to take the time to convert the files to the right format (which is easy with calibre which is also free) it seems pretty good to me :)
I do not quite understand how reading a book on the computer can be as enjoyable as sitting comferably in a chair or sofa in the garden or by a fireside etc / please enlighten me a[not tha t I intend to try it}

I personally love to read paperbacks and even hardbacks. I even have a room full of books I have no shelf to put them on, but the advantage of ebooks is immense. Except these obvious ones Sue mentioned (easier and convenient read wherever you are, bookmarking and highlighting quotes without harming the books themselves etc), some books I simply wish to read without having them around afterwards, especially if I do not feel I would like them that much. For that it's great to use local library, but mine doesn't have many items I wish to read so I turned my head towards ebooks.
Oh and I forgot the action currently taking place: Downpour is this week offering an audiobook narrated by Mark Bramhall, Riders of the Purple Sage by Zane Grey for free. Not that I am acquainted with narrators' quality in audiobook sphere, but seems tempting enough, especially as I recall one lovely adaptation of this book, starring Ed Harris, Amy Madigan and Henry Thomas.
Somehow the most tempting offers I find lately are mostly audiobooks.
This time it is
The Prince and the Pauper, narrated by Steve West - it is offered for free this week only by SYNC as part of their YA & Classic Audiobooks Summer Programme.

Yea i love the feel of actual books . But i was running out of room so i bought a kindle . I found that on fridays you can get a book for a 1.99 and sometimes popular books of the moment range from 6.99 and up ( like silver linings and walking disaster) . So it kinda works out but i miss the feel and smell of a library book the most. I also read actuals books faster.
That's good tip for Fridays, didn't know, thanks :)
