Both novels and short story collections are allowed. Books must be at least 150 pages long to count.

The challenge will run from 1 October 2013 to 30 June 2014.

Some thrillers include:
Deon Meyer
Michael Stanley
Margie Orford

I also enjoy Zakes Mda.

If you want a more extensive African list, take a look here https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/97. Check the bookshelf in the top right hand section of the group.

Scarlett Jensen Dear Members,

I am a South African author and want to know if my book has a platform in this group. If yes, I will give details.

A South African for South Africans

message 20: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I see you've already posted the details in the Author Promotion thread, but you can link to your book's page here as well since it's a relevant topic and others have asked for recommendations.

What would you consider as being an African author? Would an author who was born and lived most of his life in South Africa, but now lives in a different country (Dave Freer) count? What about an author who was born in a different country but who now lives in South Africa (Paul Crilley)?

message 22: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Yes to both. It seems Crilley also lived most of his life in SA since he moved there when he was 8. Sarah Lotz is also considered a South African author although she was born in the UK.

message 23: by Angelique (new)

Angelique (angelique682) All righty - thanks for the reminder Lu... I would have forgotten about this one and I actually have read a few books that apply. Will come update them here when I get a chance!
