Hey guys I would like to be part of the challenge but my problem is that I do not know any African authors because all I have been fed is the American books no offense intended. In short can I have list of those authors and maybe recommendations for my first book to read :)
Here are some that I have read or plan to read (mostly science fiction and fantasy):Lauren Beukes

Some thrillers include:
Deon Meyer
Michael Stanley
Margie Orford
I also enjoy Zakes Mda.
If you want a more extensive African list, take a look here https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/97. Check the bookshelf in the top right hand section of the group.

Dear Members,I am a South African author and want to know if my book has a platform in this group. If yes, I will give details.
A South African for South Africans
I see you've already posted the details in the Author Promotion thread, but you can link to your book's page here as well since it's a relevant topic and others have asked for recommendations.
What would you consider as being an African author? Would an author who was born and lived most of his life in South Africa, but now lives in a different country (Dave Freer) count? What about an author who was born in a different country but who now lives in South Africa (Paul Crilley)?
Yes to both. It seems Crilley also lived most of his life in SA since he moved there when he was 8. Sarah Lotz is also considered a South African author although she was born in the UK.
All righty - thanks for the reminder Lu... I would have forgotten about this one and I actually have read a few books that apply. Will come update them here when I get a chance!
Done! Cutting it fine. At least it gave me an excuse to re-read one of my all time favourite Afrikaans books.
