Girl gets pregnant. Lots of religious tones. She ends up giving the baby up for adoption. There is a sequel to this book that I read also.

Was the pregnancy from rape? In the sequel, before giving birth, is she working in a cafeteria or restaurant or something?

She became pregnant her 1st time having sex. It was consensual. In the sequal it was mainly about her not making the same mistake twice and that to stay away from people who drink and do drugs.

I read it 14 years ago when I was in the 6th grade. I think it was a few years old because it came from my school library. There was no mention of a cell phone or anything and even the fashion was obscure so it could have even been published in the 80's, early 90's.

I do not remember the cover at all but the sequel had a girl sitting in what looked like an attic next to a chest. Amber sunlight was flowing in from a small window.

Did some searching and it's got to be Choice Summer by Shirley Brinkerhoff, it's a series, the second book is Mysterious Love
