I have just opened up Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death on my kindle. It's a new author for me and I've never read a culinary cozy either - I hope it doesn't make me hungry!
If you're like me, you signed up for way too many challenges - and then didn't organize yourself to have a chance to finish many before year end. Here's our chance to do something about it!I'm going to start with
, The Queen of Water. I have some alphabets that need a Q book, and the setting of Ecuador will help towards an around the world challenge.
I am just starting Poison. I used the fruit machine to pick my book as I have finished (or abandoned) my challenges for this year. The author is new to me too and the book is meant to be a more adult retelling of Snow White. We shall see.......
OMG! I almost forgot the toppler. Though I am battling with fever, I guess I can sneak some reading in. Who knows it might help me feel better. :) Now off to find my book. I am bad at planning in advance.
There's some very mixed reviews for that Lisa, I'd be interested to know what you thought once finished.
Happy Toppler everyone. I'm reading the same book as Sarah The Quiche of Death. Of course life is trying to get in the way of my Toppler - we have tickets to see Oliver in Seattle today. Good thing this looks like a fun read.
My Propper Toppler tea is brewing, bread is in the toaster, and my coca crispies are waiting for the milk to be poured. Pies and Prejudice is loaded on my Nook and open for me to start reading. It is foggy and 39 F here in Hillsboro, Oregon at 9:20am PST and I am ready to start my cozy read for the Dec Challenge.

I am reading The Outsiders and In the Beauty of the Lilies. I really planned to dash out and buy two small Christmas gifts for next week, but I may wait until Monday when the stores aren't so crowded. Of course, the real reason is that I don't want to miss the Toppler!!
Pragya - glad you remembered the Toppler. Your book might become even more of a fantasy with your fever :D Hope you feel better soon!Connie - good to see you have your priorities straight! And that you're taking the time for yourself to join us :)
I just got home from snowboarding all day and I am happy to just sit/lie down and relax with A Pocket Full of Rye :)
The Quiche of Death. Agatha Raisin is a hoot. I hope everyone is enjoying their books as much as I am. Cherie and Casceil I love the name of your book. Adding it to my TBR based on the name alone :)Sarah when you get to Agatha entering the Quiche contest (view spoiler)

I am reading The Year of the Storm
It finishes off my A-Z challenge in another Goodreads group (Goodreads Choice Awards).
It is snowing here; wicked storm :-)
Marnie wrote: "Connie [spoilers removed]"Oh, Marnie! I understand now. I should have figured that out!! How funny! It sounds like a delightful book. I have added it to my tbr and Cherie's book, too. Cherie always finds the most interesting books!!
Casceil wrote: "Cherie, we are reading the same book. Maybe we can chat about it later."Hi Casceil,
Yes, I saw it in the other thread and was going to comment the same thing. I have to admit that I am finding it a bet of a meh story. Some of her lines are pretty entertaining though, like the one about slipping the skins off of the peaches like a woman shrugging off a thin coat.
I just got back from running my granddaughter to the light rail station and to the library to return some DVDs. Back to reading!
I almost forgot about the Toppler. Good thing I just wanted to check my mails. We bought our Christmas tree today and I could not keep myself from already decorating it so I will just get on the sofa next to it and make myself cozy with a glass of wine, some candles and The Singapore School of Villainy which I am reading for the "around the world in 52 books"-challenge. Have fun, everyone!

Hi Cathie,
Brrr. Looks like you picked the right book??? :) Brrr 10 F and snowing.

I hope you are feeling a little better by now. I see your book title may be fitting for how you feel. :) Hope it turns out WELL!!!
**waving too**Off to Seattle now- good thing I can read on the ferry. I will check back in tonight. Stay out of trouble until I get back... Or save me a seat :)
Yes Agatha Raisin is great fun. I too laughed at the quiche contest Marnie. I thought we might have got a recipe listed when Agatha had to replicate the quiche but unfortunately not. Fingers crossed one will show up at some point.Hope everyone is enjoying their books - sounds like it's the perfect day for reading for those who have snow. No snow in the UK unfortunately - it's quite mild.
Kirila wrote: "I just got home from snowboarding all day and I am happy to just sit/lie down and relax with A Pocket Full of Rye :)"Hi Kirila,
Sounds like you had a fun day. Your book title makes me smile. Can't beat Ms. Christie for a book to settle down with after a great day.
Alexandra wrote: "I almost forgot about the Toppler. Good thing I just wanted to check my mails. We bought our Christmas tree today and I could not keep myself from already decorating it so I will just get on the so..."Hi Alexandra,
Have a good time with your book.

Enjoy the weather while it is nice. I hope you have a great evening reading too!
Cherie, I agree Pies and Prejudice is a little disappointing. Ellery Adams writes another series that is much better. This one is so sugary it is making my teeth hurt. At least it's short.
Have a great time in Seattle Marnie!Alexandra, we put up and decorated our Christmas tree today too. I am feeling kind of festive now :)
Sarah, is it raining and blowing a gale in your part of the UK? It is where I am so I am really glad that I am curled up in a chair reading! Really wish it would snow but I don't think it's going to.
Right, back to reading. Enjoy your books everyone!
I'm going to restart Snow Flower and the Secret Fan again. I started it last week or the week before but with everything that's going on I feel I need to start afresh and keep going with it.

Hi Lisa, it´s true, the tree makes everything more festive (and serious as there is still so much to do before christmas) :-)
Is it mild in the UK as well? Over here the weather forecast says that there probably won´t be a white christmas...
Yes nice and sunny and warmish today in UK. Don't want no white stuff - we can't cope with it. Although it sounds a bit blowy outside but I'm not going to investigate. It's 8.30pm I'm in bed nice and warm with my book(s).

Very mild but pretty windy where I am - dry though! I too wish it would snow. I love it when it snows but it does seem to cause the whole country to grind to a halt even if it is just 1 inch of the stuff! Crazy! I'm really enjoying my book. It's a quick read. Dinner's out the way now so I can get back to reading again.
I worry about myself sometimes! Why did I think 12:00 noon EST was 2:00 pm MST when it is actually 10:00 am MST?I went Christmas shopping, unpacked and organized it all, put stew on to cook, and figured I had a half hour left before the toppler started. It had already started 3-1/2 hours ago!
No, Travis, I cannot blame it on the wine. But I think I'll crack open a bottle to ease my disappointment in being late to the party!
I'm going to read The Tenth Chamber which is the T book for my alphabet.
I just finished Chapter 5 from A Pocket Full of Rye, which I am reading for the Tea Cozy challenge. The book is nice so far, doesn't require much thinking or concentration on my part, but Miss Marple still hasn't appeared... And beginning of Chapter 6 is set in Paris. 3 points for setting in France (if not-main setting counts...) :)
Half way through Curse Of The Pogo Stick for a Countdown Challenge and a 52 books Around the World Challenge. Going really quickly. i think I might get a second book done during the Toppler.
Had nachos as a snack break which is making me sleepy, and having stayed up too late the night before with cocktails and conversation, isn't helping.
♫Happy Birthday to You!♫ dear Cherie ♫Happy Birthday to You!♫ !

I wondered when you posted earlier about going out and getting soem things done, but then I figured you wanted to get them out of the way and start the Toppler with no interruptions. I suppose you'll have to start calculating the time beforehand like our across-the-pond'ers :D
