Sadly, I can't get Two Boys Kissing right now at the library, so I'll catch up on earlier group reads. Right now I'm reading Maureen McHugh's After the Apocalypse.
I'm in the mood for SF.
Trying to finish four nonfiction histories that I read chapters and essays out of order for a project last semester: Sexual Politics, Sexual Communities, The World Turned: Essays on Gay History, Politics, and Culture, Making Trouble: Essays on Gay History, Politics, and the University, and Gay L. A.: A History of Sexual Outlaws, Power Politics, and Lipstick Lesbians. And two short stories collections, again out of order: Finale: Short Stories of Mystery and Suspense and Flesh and the Word 2: An Anthology of Erotic Writing.
I'm reading The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare I gave the set to my 13y/o granddaughter for Xmas and we're reading them together. I'm about done with City of Ashes. These are definitely YA/Teen PNR, not my thing, but I'm enjoying the escapism and reminiscence of teen-hood. I quite liked the movie which I saw 1st.
i just finished reading the first installment of elora bishop's sappho's fables ( which was fantastic) and am now reading earth logic which is the second in the elemental logic series, with a brilliant lesbian protagonist.
I'm reading The Monuments Men, the story of art lovers, historians, and curators who tried to save the European art treasures during the Nazi occupation. Very interesting and I'm finding it to be an enjoyable trip!
I am reading Winger now. I tried to find Two Boys Kissing at my library today but it was checked out. :/
Just finished epic gay fantasy Pawn Storm. You have GOT to read this series. This is book 6 in the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse by Andrew Ashling. AMAZING! My review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Just added to my Want to Read list!
Finished James Tiptree, Jr.: The Double Life of Alice B. Sheldon. Worthwhile. Much about gender and sexuality. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Start with BOnds of Hate, the first in the series. It is fabulous! Please let me know how you like it. He is far and away my favorite author.
Of Merchants & HeroesI'm a convert to this author. Homosexuality in historical context. He does it great. His other two are set at the time of Julian.
I began reading "Into This River I Drown" today and I must say I am so in love with it after only the first chapter!
I discovered a new author for me—Thomas Burnett Swann. I just finished Wolfwinter reviewed Here
I am delighted at this discovery and am now reading his The Minotaur Trilogy. I aim to read him in toto, if I can find his books.

I'm currently reading Half of a Yellow Sun and PopCo. I'll start Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity soon and possibly Middlesex too.
I'm also on And The Mountains Echoed. I'm wanting to read a good ghost story next, if anyone has any suggestions...?
Currently reading and LOVING "Into This River I Drown".An amazing read and beautiful story of love, loss, learning and ultimately living. I am about halfway through but I have no interest in the story ending.

Not all are ghost stories, but Robert Dunbar's Martyrs and Monsters is definitely worth reading.

Two wonderful ghost stories by Peter S. Beagle:
A Fine and Private Place
Tamsin
This month (and next month likely too) is going to be all about Ulysses for me. Some coworkers and I are going to slog through it together.

I'm reading Loud Awake and Lost and enjoying it so far. Next up might be Winter's Tale or The Water Castle. Before that I reread The Ocean at the End of the Lane.

It's an entertaining read and very funny in places."I love Tales of the City! I've still got a few more of the series left to read, I keep meaning to finish them off..

It had some of the most beautiful writing I've come across ever, but for reasons I can't remember, I abandoned the book. One of these days I'll pick it up again.
Clodia, Gavin, I LOVE the Tales series. I recently devoured a galley of the latest one (I interviewed Maupin for a Lambda #humblebrag) and was so sad to finish the series. I feel I'll definitely be revisiting it in the future.

I feel I'll definitely be..." Really interesting interview Dan. Good to know too that there are so many more books in the series to look forward to reading. I like the idea of watching characters develop over the years, finding out a little more about them book by book.
It really is a great series. I read it all earlier this year when I moved to San Francisco. Really helped me get my bearings, and, of course, the characters are just so wonderful.
The Diary of a Nobody by George Grossmith (delightfully funny).Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability by Steve Krug (a bit basic).
Just finished The Value of Rain by Brandon Shire. Excellent read. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I didn't finish it either. I found the writing impenetrable. I have a rule for myself that I read at least 50 pages of a book before I give up on it. I was barely able to read 38 pages.
OTOH the movie looks delish! Maybe this'll be one of those rare movies --for me & you, anyway-- that are better than the books.
