Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments 1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Racine, Wisconsin - about halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Too hard too choose! Probably the Scott Pilgrim books.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I've hoarded away two bags of the "Truffle Fries" Lays chips just for today!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm 37 years old, and the 'mom' of three cuddly furrballs who will be spending today in my lap.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my second Readathon, and I think I'll take a planned nap today instead of trying to push through the whole 24, since I didn't get much sleep last night.

message 4: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) Good luck, Jana! And no shame in taking a nap. I usually do as well!

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments Mid-Event Survey:

1. What are you reading right now?

Waiting for Godot

2. How many books have you read so far?

This is #6, including one DNF.

Once "bedtime" hits, I'm switching over to graphic novels, and I have Scott Pilgrim and Lumberjanes waiting for me.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

A few, but nothing major. Mostly just pets wanting attention, which I can accommodate while reading!

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

How much time I could waste on the social media parts of it if I don't watch myself!

message 7: by Jana (new)

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments Readathon time again!!! This will be my third Readathon, and I can't wait - they've become my two favorite days of the year! See you all in two weeks!

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments End of Event Survey

Which hour was most daunting for you?

I tapped out at hour 22...I just couldn't keep going.

Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?

I had a lot of luck with short non-fiction books this year.

Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next season?

None that I can think of - you guys always do such a great job!

What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?

The option for everyone to go be a cheerleader for everyone probably helped take a lot of stress off of our lovely mods!

How many books did you read?

TWELVE. Whoah. Ok, 11 and one DNF. Still.

What were the names of the books you read?

Thing Explainer, Tea with Jane Austen, Food Rules, Journey to the East, More Baths Less Talking, Giant Days vols 1-2, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Vol 1, Tuck Everlasting, The Universe Doesn't Give a Flying Fuck About You, one of the three new Pottermore books, Princeless

Which book did you enjoy most?

Thing Explainer

Which did you enjoy least?

Journey to the East (this one is the DNF)

How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

Oh hells yes. I will always RaT. Next time, I think I'll cheerlead more and do more challenges.

message 20: by Jana (new)

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments Start time in a little less than 10 hours - I'm so excited! My snacks are bought and put away, my comfiest sweatpants and new Shakespeare socks are clean and ready for me, and my bedside stack is threatening to crush me in my sleep! I'm going to read the last 40 pages of Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis before bed so that tomorrow I can start with a clean slate. I always plan to not be "currently reading" anything at the start of RaT, but this time around I'm actually going to get there! See you all in the morning, readers!

message 21: by Jana (new)

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments Opening Survey time!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Racine, Wisconsin, on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I bought this giant Reese's Peanut Butter egg in an after Easter sale that I have been staring at all week!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I'm 39 years old, I have a dog (who is my LIFE) and three cats (who are pretty high on that list too), and I also have a fiance who has accepted that he's almost as important at the pets. ;)

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

This is my 5th RaT, and this time I'm setting timers to take planned social media breaks (and also keep it from eating into my reading time!)

Yay yay Dewey's Day!

Colona Public Library (colonapubliclibrary) | 197 comments I've stayed in Racine, Wisconsin before very nice town, especially with the lake! Then I went to Bristol Ren Faire. the next day! Anyway...happy reading! ~Ashley

Get Jiro!
Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi

Jana Eichhorn | 314 comments Taking a break to do some posting and some cheering after 2 hours, so now's as good of a time as any for my opening survey:

Opening Survey
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Racine, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Michigan

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

Many Bloody Returns

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Fairy food and buffalo chicken dip! (Not together. Ew. LOL)

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I have a 5.5 year old Labrador who is the very center of my world, and he's recently been diagnosed with cancer. I'm a mess, and it's all I can think about anymore, so this readathon is helping me occupy my mind with something positive, which is sorely needed.

5) This is our VERY first Reverse Readathon! How does it feel in your time zone?

Strange, honestly, but I'm kind of loving it so far.
