Sad. It was fun while it lasted. Not unexpected though as it was practically dead lately.
I know. Staff was so absent I knew something was up. For starters, I would have expected the Shelfarians loving the nested groups and the increased activity they caused would have had a viable site jumping right on that ...*sigh* the controls and privacy plus features offered and promised were the absolute best. Hung in there waiting for some promised coming soon like better group features, series tracking ...
Too bad Jacquie couldn't just turn it over to someone (other than goodreads or amazon).
D.A. misses no commercial use & opt-in wrote: "Too bad Jacquie couldn't just turn it over to someone (other than goodreads or amazon)."Yes, that's what I thought as well :(
I will miss it but also suspected it was coming. I wish there had been more information along the way--when Emily left, it seemed like too big a task for one person, so it was hard to trust it would continue.
I haven't been active on LM in forever, should I just delete my account? Looks like you can do that on the Account Settings tab.
If anyone from Leafmarks is trying to join booklikes and having issues with that verify email, Booklikes says over in http://booklikes.com/thread/176/bug-reports#thread-post "Could they email us on contact@booklikes.com, please? We will verify them manually.":
I'm bummed. I tried to stay active on it, but it has been quiet. I've been waiting for the axe to fall.I actually just decided to check out booklikes since I never use it. But I just can't seem to be interested since I already have a blog and don't care to use BL features.
Me too, Shera. I think BL is pretty, but it is not as user-friendly for a book database. I already have a blog as well.
Leafmarks has added options for exporting your status updates and to export book data as csv (as well as previous tsv) format.Click upper right on the profile icon, "Import/Export Books" and that's where both the update and the tsv/csv choices are.

Don't forget to transfer your Leafmarks Challenges -- possibly to a Reading List on Booklikes, a Listopia on Goodreads, a shelf on either ...
For the Leafmarks community challenge for "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die", I'd suggest http://www.listchallenges.com/1001-bo... for the list (and a possible site for echoing the no-longer-available-after-July-1-2016 Leafmarks challenges you are currently in). I'm tackling the Time and Modern Library 100-book lists over on booklikes but had no interest in manipulating all 1001 books from obscure British critics when there were already plenty on the web.
UPDATE: http://booklikes.com/apps/reading-lis... is the Time 100 challenge.
I miss Leafmarks. Even though we only had it available for a short time, it had the potential to be everything we want Goodreads to be and isn't. For me, none of the alternatives come close to what was developing there. It's such a shame and yes, I'm just whining here. Sorry I had to vent for a moment.

Very sad about this, but it 's not entirely unexpected. It had been awfully quiet lately, even with the influx of Shelfarians.
