After a bit of delay, here are your April 2017 Mini Challenges!

RULES

** Books DO NOT all have to be mysteries. You can use any genres.

** A book can only be used once for this challenge, but can be used for other challenges (Seasonal, World Trip, Ultimate, etc.).

** You DO NOT have to choose books in advance, and can change your mind at any time if you do.

** Do as many as you are able and have fun!

1. The first week of April is Library Week, April 2 is Children's Book Day, April 4 is School Librarian Day, April 16 is National Librarian Day, and April 27 is Tell a Story Day: Read a book that revolves around a library, bookstore, book group—anything dealing with books (Suggested authors: Victoria Abbott, Ellery Adams, Ali Brandon, Lorraine Barrett, Kate Carlisle, Laurie Cass, Erika Chase, Laura DiSilverio, Daryl Wood Gerber, Carolyn Hart, Miranda James, Maggie King, Allison Kinsley, Jenn McKinley, Paige Shelton)

2. April 8 is Draw a Picture of a Bird Day and the 25th World Penguin Day: Read a book with a bird on the cover, in the title, or that has a bird character in it.

3. April 10 is National Siblings Day: Read a book with siblings in it (any age, and they do not have to be the main characters).

4. April 13 is Scrabble Day: Read a book by an author who uses an initial in his/her name (e.g.: M.C. Beaton, J.J. Cook, E.J. Copperman, Philip K. Dick, P.D. James, Linda O. Johnston, L.M. Montgomery, J.D. Robb, J.K. Rowling, H.G. Wells).

5. April 14 is Look up at the Sky Day, and April 28 is International Astronomy Day: We’ll make this one easy — find a book that shows the sky.

Betty, thanks for the reminder of a great song! I'd almost forgotten The Mamas and the Papas, and "Monday, Monday." I had to stop and listen to it and add it to my playlist!

I have 3 books chosen for the categories given, and started reading the first. Looking forward to the rest of the list :-)

Rainy in South Louisiana (as it often is!) so lots of time to read. I am enjoying this group!

Hi, neighbor! I'm in Southeast Louisiana, staying up late to read the last chapter of a book for the Spring Challenge. It's taken me longer than I would like because life keeps intervening. But, like Little Orphan Annie I'm singing "Tomorrow, tomorrow! I love ya' tomorrow!" hoping there'll be fewer interruptions so I can finish one more book for the Spring Challenge before I start searching for books on the April Mini Challenge. I love these mini challenges.

Hi Betty, glad to meet a South Louisiana neighbor! I hope you stayed dry in the storm. I mostly slept through it. Now I feel a bit lazy :-) While you were up late reading for the Spring Challenge, I have not even started it yet! Only been in Goodreads (and this great group!) for about a month, and still finding things. I just looked at the Spring Challenge and can't wait to get started on it, probably "Tomorrow, tomorrow," as you said!

First I want to find and post the rest of my choices for April. Thanks, Heather, for the interesting challenges--what fun!

And my sister said I would be bored if I retired early... So many books, so little time!

Amber | 21 comments Oh, I could do a whole month on #1... I'm glad now I finished all of March's books, taking until the last evening of March, instead of skipping the last one and moving onto my book for #1. My list is a little romance heavy, but I've done a lot of cozies lately and feel like a good dose of love.

#1 - Book about books - Twice Told Tail
#2 - Book w/ a bird - maybe Bird of Paradise
#3 - Book w/ siblings - The Perils of Paulie
#4 - Book by author w/ initials - Purr M for Murder
#5 - Book w/ sky - Bound Together

I could swap books 3 and 5 for each other, as both show a good amount of sky on their covers and each book is part of a series revolving around the male protagonists' siblings.

Twice Told Tail (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery #6) by Ali Brandon Bird of Paradise by Katie MacAlister The Perils of Paulie (Ainslie Brothers #4) by Katie MacAlister Purr M for Murder (A Cat Rescue Mystery #1) by T.C. LoTempio Bound Together (Sea Haven/Sisters of the Heart, #6) by Christine Feehan

Finished reading ST. PATRICK’S DAY MURDER, by Leslie Meier (siblings). I recommend it!

Started reading MISS JULIA WEATHERS THE STORM, by Ann B. Ross. So far it's as entertaining as the rest of the series.

At this rate, I will soon be able to work on the Spring Challenge!

Finished reading MISS JULIA WEATHERS THE STORM, by Ann B. Ross. Was as interesting and funny as the rest of the series!

I read it in two sittings; it was that good. I would pretty much rather read than do most other things, but I do need to put up the books and finish "uncluttering" my closet!
