Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1814 comments The book is such a quick read somehow I even auto-skimmed (got carried away too fast) some of the action parts because I want to know what would happen next. I think I finished it within two days.

I think it works better visually for me, especially to see the mechanics. Can't help but thinkin about those series like Dark Matter, Killjoys, Firefly and the likes.

How about you folks?

Trike | 11290 comments I didn’t skim, but I did think it was breezy. That was one of the reasons why I liked it. It was a nice balance to all the heavy stuff we’ve read this year.

Charles Cadenhead (thatcharliedude) | 201 comments I've finished both books. I think the second one is better than the first, mostly because the story is more concise. I think both books took me two or 3 days to read (each). Great story!

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5216 comments I thought it was alternately humorous and serious, then took a "Chasing Amy" into some heavy themes. Overall I was fine with the book. It just didn't hold up as well as some of the classic adventures I have read. I found it a little too disjointed and some of the sections thinly justified.

Tamahome | 7271 comments He falls in love with a lesbian?

Tamahome | 7271 comments All done. The ending was fun. I was getting a little ansy on Mars.

I agree - it's like a comfort read.

Oh, why's that?

I was getting tired of him getting beaten up again.

This tends to happen to him a lot.

Calvey | 279 comments I just finished the audio book. Feel like I could have done that much quicker if I had read it. I like it at first but by the end of it I was like, meh am I almost done? I did like (view spoiler)

Melina I've been listening to it on Audible. The narrator's voice has a monotone cadence to it. Makes the story sound boring.

Fresno Bob | 602 comments yep, enjoyable light quick romp without being YA

Louie (rmutt1914) | 885 comments I read it within 3 days. And just put a hold on Book 2.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5216 comments Every time I read that title it makes me think "That's what *she* said!" Which immediately makes me flash on the XKCD cartoon. Anyhoo, I hope people do not mind my wild free association here.

That's what she said!

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 860 comments I thought the narrator of the Audible did ok. His accents weren't so great, but I enjoyed it. It helps to listen at a higher speed (1.3x) for me.

Poonam | 58 comments I'm not loving the narrator either. The tip on increasing the speed definitely helps! thanks!

Tamahome | 7271 comments I still don't get John (Taloni)'s Chasing Amy comment.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5216 comments Oh. It was a throwaway line. The book starts out light, like Chasing Amy, which is one of my fave films. Then in a similar arc the situation gets heavier and heavier over time.

Colin Forbes (colinforbes) | 534 comments Well that wasn't quick! Couldn't really say why either. It was fine when I was actually listening to it, plenty of action and some humour, but I just wasn't finding the impetus to stick in my earbuds and start listening.

So, it was .... fine. Ask me in 6 months and I'll probably have trouble remembering anything about what happened.

Hoping that next month's book is more compelling.

Tamahome | 7271 comments Did you get antsy on Mars?
