FIN: Well, that was quick

I didn’t skim, but I did think it was breezy. That was one of the reasons why I liked it. It was a nice balance to all the heavy stuff we’ve read this year.
I've finished both books. I think the second one is better than the first, mostly because the story is more concise. I think both books took me two or 3 days to read (each). Great story!
I thought it was alternately humorous and serious, then took a "Chasing Amy" into some heavy themes. Overall I was fine with the book. It just didn't hold up as well as some of the classic adventures I have read. I found it a little too disjointed and some of the sections thinly justified.

I agree - it's like a comfort read.

I was getting tired of him getting beaten up again.

This tends to happen to him a lot.
I just finished the audio book. Feel like I could have done that much quicker if I had read it. I like it at first but by the end of it I was like, meh am I almost done? I did like (view spoiler)
I've been listening to it on Audible. The narrator's voice has a monotone cadence to it. Makes the story sound boring.
Every time I read that title it makes me think "That's what *she* said!" Which immediately makes me flash on the XKCD cartoon. Anyhoo, I hope people do not mind my wild free association here.
That's what she said!
I thought the narrator of the Audible did ok. His accents weren't so great, but I enjoyed it. It helps to listen at a higher speed (1.3x) for me.
Oh. It was a throwaway line. The book starts out light, like Chasing Amy, which is one of my fave films. Then in a similar arc the situation gets heavier and heavier over time.
Well that wasn't quick! Couldn't really say why either. It was fine when I was actually listening to it, plenty of action and some humour, but I just wasn't finding the impetus to stick in my earbuds and start listening. So, it was .... fine. Ask me in 6 months and I'll probably have trouble remembering anything about what happened.
Hoping that next month's book is more compelling.

I think it works better visually for me, especially to see the mechanics. Can't help but thinkin about those series like Dark Matter, Killjoys, Firefly and the likes.
How about you folks?
