I don’t mind positive or negative development, but I don’t like it when there’s NO CHANGE in the characters throughout the story.
Almost 90% of my fav characters are dynamic characters. Whether to better or to worse, I kinda like them more. They're so much intresting and deep. Also it is more realistic. We don't stay the same persons forever, how do we expect fictional characters to do so?

@Bhavya Agreed. There has to be character development throughout the story otherwise its too plain and simple

I agree with you all. Also, if there's no development, I can easily guess what the character will do next. If they change, I get the twists and turns that I love!
Character development is usually a good thing. Although I don't like when an author makes a character change at the drop of a hat to make the plot work.

How important this quality is for characters in the story, according to you? Do you think, protagonists are more interesting when the author provides them a dynamic quality (preferably positive)?
How does it shape the characters and the story?
