Hello Bookhounds! Can you believe it is already August? Can you believe that we've reached book #7?!

'Coasting' is a Great British adventure story and the perfect book for your late-summer camping trip or beach holiday.

Let us know your first impressions and share your reviews :)

Nina | 16 comments Just picked this up last night and I'm already hooked. puts me in mind of other adventure writers like Anna McNuff. Can't wait to read the rest of the adventures

Great to hear it Nina! Spoiler alert, Anna actually makes an appearance in the book :)

Toby Fells | 7 comments Finally finished this today after two days of far too much reading and not enough working but I just couldn't put this one down.

This book made my heart sing...It's everything I love about running and adventure in one place.

I'll be posting it to my cousin, a young adult who is currently trying to untangle her own spaghetti head with difficulty and there is nothing I love more than pointing her in the direction of inspiring women and Elise is certainly one of them.

All the stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nina | 16 comments This was such an easy book to read and I finished it last night as couldn't put it down until I'd read the last page (I'm very tired this morning hee hee) I loved this from start of finish and think the best adventures are the ones you just go and do rather than planning everything down to the letter. Elise is an amazing young woman and what an adventure she had.

Stephen Panting | 12 comments What a great read! Elise made a 5000 Mile adventure sound simple in spirit. Tough but fun in reality!
Loved hearing how the running and adventure community chipped in to help her round. I laughed at times and had my head in my hands at others. I certainly feel inspired to find an adventure of my own.
Superb choice!

Maria | 7 comments This book was brilliant! I felt like I really connected with Elise in just the first few pages and the rest was just a breeze to read. I loved the adventure, and the kindness of strangers shown whilst Elise was coasting. But I also loved how human Elise remained throughout. She was honest about the mistakes she made and was occasionally self-deprecating. I think Elise touched on this herself when she said that it’s so easy to get a certain idea about people that you only know and read about online. But each of these people are people, they haven’t always got it figured out, they have good days and bad days just like everybody else. I don’t feel like you need to be a runner in order to enjoy this book, and I like that’s why I loved it so much.

Thanks so much for your reviews Stephen and Maria and I'm so glad that Elise's story resonated with you both.

What you said at the end really rings true Maria. I was speaking to another Bookhound today who doesn't always feel like a real runner but after reading Elise's story, they've stopped seeing "runner" as one type of person and even believe they could take on a similar running adventure.

Don't forget to listen to the latest edition of Bookhounds: The Run Down podcast to hear more thoughts on 'Coasting' :)

Stephen Panting | 12 comments Just noticed….”Coasting” is listed in The Times sports books of the year. In today’s Culture supplement. Well deserved.

Maria | 7 comments Yes! I saw it displayed quite prominently in Waterstones the other day. Well done, Elise!
