A question I asked in the hotseat of a couple of our members but I think it's a question many could answer. If you could sit down to dinner with 5 people past /present famous or not, who would they be?

message 6: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall my 5 would be (and I have put a lot of thought into this)

adolf hitler
al capone
judas escariot
vlad the impaler
Jack the Ripper

The reasons why? well they are all important men in history who have had major impacts on all our lives in some way or another. Wouldn't it be great to ask them why? they have all had a number of books written about them but what would their own true story be if they had the chance to tell their side? would they change their actions? or maybe if you could go back in time and see what they were like before the course of action was taken - a bit like King's book - could you change the course of history

Hitler and Jack the Ripper did what they did simply because they were simply batshit insane.

That said my 5 would be:

Pope Francis
Gaius Tavarus Magnus (Tavi from the CODEX ALERA series by Jim Butcher)
Ayla (from Jean M. Auel's EARTH'S CHILDREN series)
Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden (from The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher) and the animal trio known as Mrs. Murphy, Pewter and Tee Tucker (from The MRS. MURPHY MYSTERIES by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown).

Why Not?

message 8: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5282 comments Mod
I don't buy that. Saying they were merely insane is over simplifying. Jack The Ripper has always fascinated me, would love to know who and why.

message 9: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall yeah but were they always like that? what if they could give you the insight into that one defining moment that made them what they were? am just a curious cookie and I know they are a bit of a controversial pairing however that is my choice

Amber Martingale Nanci, IMH(onest)O; Austen, Dickens and Bronte are BORING AS HELL. Why would one want to dine with three of the most boring authors in English Lit?

That said, I would probably add Jefferson and Franklin to my own previous list.

It's good we don't all want to DINE with the same people! We all have different topics/subjects/books/movies/people we think are boring! Eg. Charles Dickens toured and did readings of his books and acted out his characters' voices. He was a big hit.
NC &:)
