my 5 would be (and I have put a lot of thought into this)adolf hitler
al capone
judas escariot
vlad the impaler
Jack the Ripper
The reasons why? well they are all important men in history who have had major impacts on all our lives in some way or another. Wouldn't it be great to ask them why? they have all had a number of books written about them but what would their own true story be if they had the chance to tell their side? would they change their actions? or maybe if you could go back in time and see what they were like before the course of action was taken - a bit like King's book - could you change the course of history

Hitler and Jack the Ripper did what they did simply because they were simply batshit insane.
That said my 5 would be:
Pope Francis
Gaius Tavarus Magnus (Tavi from the CODEX ALERA series by Jim Butcher)
Ayla (from Jean M. Auel's EARTH'S CHILDREN series)
Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden (from The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher) and the animal trio known as Mrs. Murphy, Pewter and Tee Tucker (from The MRS. MURPHY MYSTERIES by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown).
Why Not?
I don't buy that. Saying they were merely insane is over simplifying. Jack The Ripper has always fascinated me, would love to know who and why.
yeah but were they always like that? what if they could give you the insight into that one defining moment that made them what they were? am just a curious cookie and I know they are a bit of a controversial pairing however that is my choice

I remember this question from the hotseat.Stevie Ray Vaughan
John Basilone
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Marilyn Monroe
Abraham Lincoln
Quite a mix here. My five would be; Voldemort Napoleon
Arthur Wellesley the 1st Duke of Wellington
Joseph Stalin AKA Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin
finally the late Margaret Thatcher.
Alexander Wilson, father of American ornithologyLeonardo da Vinci
Mark Twain
Teddy Roosevelt
Henry David Thoreau
Gene Simmons & Paul StanleyBruce Dickinson & Steve Harris
Billy Williams & Ron Santo
Walter Payton
George Patton

(not necessarily in that order)

I remember a bumper sticker that said "Come to the Galaxy Diner...where MeatLoaf is Still Something you eat... not a fat rock star on the comeback trail."
Kanye West...so i can tell him what a bleep he is...Diane Sawyer...Anne Rule...Diane Keaton..Freddie Mercury but he is dead.

While we're dreaming...I'd love to dine with these---a 2 hour one-on-one leisurely chat with:
Emma Thompson
Anthony Hopkins
Helen Mirren
Robert Redford
Holly Hunter
Jane Austen
Charles Dickens
Charlotte Bronte
Thomas Jefferson
Margaret Thatcher
Ben Franklin
for starters. NC &:)
Nanci, IMH(onest)O; Austen, Dickens and Bronte are BORING AS HELL. Why would one want to dine with three of the most boring authors in English Lit?That said, I would probably add Jefferson and Franklin to my own previous list.
I've seen some incredible tv adaptations and movies of Dickens', Bronte's and Austen's works especially from the BBC. Love period drama.
If my primary guests on my previous list can't make it! then my back up would be...Enzo Ferrari
Ettor Maserati, BindoMaserati, Ernesto Maserati and Alfieri Maserati (brothers)
FerruccioLamborghini
Christian von Koenigsegg
finally
Ferdinand Porsche

It's good we don't all want to DINE with the same people! We all have different topics/subjects/books/movies/people we think are boring! Eg. Charles Dickens toured and did readings of his books and acted out his characters' voices. He was a big hit.
