Jan King | 6 comments Another spy is with her but leaves when they have a disagreement. He returns when he realizes she’s in danger and finds her in the dungeon. If she moves at all, she will die. Probably written in the 1970’s or 1980’s.

Jan, around what year did you read this book?

Is this a romance novel?

Can you tell us more about the main characters? Who is the heroine and who is she spying for/against?

Jan King | 6 comments Yes, I would say romantic suspense. I remember that she was educated and someone asked her to spend the weekend at the castle to spy on the owner. The other spy, (maybe Hugh?), was there to help but thought she betrayed them by getting romantically involved with the owner, so he left. He found out she never left the castle & went back for her. She had been in the torture device for a while when he found her.

Jan King | 6 comments It was probably the early 1980’s & I don’t think the author was well know.

Amber (Daisymau) (daisymau) | 1912 comments I looked at a list that has spies and found these:

An Intimate Deception by Catherine Coulter
Lady Pamela by Clare Darcy
Gabrielle's Gamble by Carola Dunn
The Guarded Heart by Barbara Hazard
The Controversial Countess by Mary Jo Putney

Jan King | 6 comments None of these either. She wasn’t a member of the upper class. I liked her because she was different than the usual heroine. And it was clean romance.
