Where is Vickie?! LOL Hey Vickie - you can talk about your zombies now! Tell us what your favorite zombie books/authors are!
Does anyone have any favorite creatures that you love to read about? Are there certain authors that you gravitate towards in creature horror? Let us know so we can fill up our tbrs with creatures!
I will say that author Hunter Shea has a great selection of creature horror books out there.

We love Berserk! We are trying to keep things contained in one spot hence the one thread. :)

Cool list - I need to check out Mayberry as soon as I am done reading the Pine Deep trilogy - one more book to go.
Also I need to finish Bobby Adair too - I own the whole series - read books 1&2 and need to finish him as well.

These all look good too, Vickie!
May I suggest you checking out this author as well as I am in the middle of a book by him and I read a book by him two years ago that rocked.
Michael R. Cole
I read this one: Thresher and
I am reading this one now: SCAR: A Deep Sea Thriller - this is super good so far!

You are welcome! :)
Thresher is what hooked me and started my journey into his world. I even did my own research on Thresher sharks and I rarely do research of books I am reading but I did with that book. :)

My favorite author for this is Jonathan Maberry
Rot & Ruin series is fantastic, but if you want to see how it started, Dead of Night series tells that story & there is cross over between these series & the Joe Ledger novels (not all about zombies, just a couple) starting with Patient Zero. Most if not all the audiobooks are narrated by Ray Porter!

Also...Bigfoot but we won't tread into that territory.

The wendigo might be my favorite creature too. I haven't read a wendigo book I didn't enjoy. Same with movies and games. I played the Until Dawn twice just because I loved the atmosphere.

Indeed, could used either side of the hero/villain fence too.

sure they even count! Oh.. and The Day of the Triffids lol. Where to start?
Is there such thing as a Zombie or Creature Feature classic? That’s probably a contentious question to ask 😂

Well I am just going to throw something out there - lol - see where it lands.
Classic zombies to me are what I would find in the tv show The Walking Dead. Especially the first few seasons.
Classic creature feature - that is really broad as there are tons of movies/books that would be considered classic.
I will start with movies first: The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Thing, etc. I am not going too deep into it as this thread comment will be a mile long - lol.
If you want to read books of creatures - I would try books from this author: Hunter Shea as he has quite a few out there about all kinds of creatures.
The other book mentioned above "Cryptids" in this thread - that author also has some other creature books out as well - this is the author: David Haynes.
Anything with zombies and/or creatures is kind of easy to find in movies and books. I would even say the movie Predator would be considered creature feature as the creature was from space. The movie franchise Alien - the same way.

Cool! :)

I haven't stepped into a lot of them but I have heard great things about this series - Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry - it is on my radar. I have books by this author and he is great, so this series would be fun I am sure.
The other zombie series which I have started tapping into is this one: Zero Day by Bobby Adair - I have read the first two books and they are really good. I need to finish the series though as there is quite a few of them left.

He sure is! His writing style just draws you into his stories as he makes you feel like you are in the middle of the zombie horde! :)

I would argue that Jaws is a creature feature classic.

Rot & Ruin is YA, but it's great! Anyway the Dead of Night & Joe Ledger books (which are connected to Rot & Ruin are not YA.

Right? Their whole idea is appealing to me

Agreed! It has that long old time uniqueness to it.

Hey Shawna!
Check out this book - which is the first in a series:
Vampires, Zombies, & Mojo Men by Ronald Kelly - this book is awesome and Ronald Kelly rocks! :)

Check out this book - which is the first in a series:

Another book that is chock full of creatures is this one:
The Haunted Forest Tour
Once the book gets going the pace becomes faster and there are tons of creatures within this book. You won't even have time to come up for air and will be exhausted by the time you lay down the book! :)
