I’ve added you! I’m a nurse too (Community ACP). I totally read for MH - escapism! I have to otherwise the stress of work would do me in! I never read hospital or health related fiction!!
I sent you a couple of books off your list!
Happy New Year! ☺️🇬🇧

I like to relax by reading books written before the middle of the twentieth century. There was a lot of clever, lighthearted domestic comedy written then. Angela Thirkell, Margery Sharp, D. E. Stevenson, Molly Clavering, Elizabeth Cadell are some of the authors who fall into this category. There’s a Goodreads group that reads a lot of books from that era, Retro Reads.

Hi Lizzie, I certainly read for my mental health and reaching for a book is so much better than fiddling with my phone!
I carry a book everywhere with me (sometimes it's my Kindle, sometimes a good old paperback), and find the escapism books provide to be a real stress-buster.
Reading also helps me wind down at the end of the day and get a good night's sleep. It really doesn't matter what the subject/genre is, although during lockdown I avoided dystopian fiction for obvious reasons!

Reading to me is a wonderful relaxation and enjoyment as I am certain it is for everyone on good reads..
I have added you and do peruse my book shelves !

I have taken loads of apps off my phone, to prevent pointless scrolling. It has really helped my anxiety and I have so much more time.... for reading ;)
My name is Lizzie, I’m based on the UK; I’m a mum, wife, nurse and well a book lover too. Ive recently fallen back in love with reading as I have found it really helps my mental health.
I’d love to make friends and gain recommendations.
I’m interested to know if people read for their mental health too and how has it helped?
I’d love to have more friend on GR so please feel free to add me!
