Feel free to start a discussion on any Kings and Queens found in mythology or folklore in this folder.

One of the most famous of these is, of course, King Arthur.

King Arthur is a legendary British leader who, according to medieval histories and romances, led the defense of Britain against the Saxon invaders in the early 6th century. The details of Arthur's story are mainly composed of folklore and literary invention, and his historical existence is debated and disputed by modern historians.

Does this thread include Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses?

I think it should :)

I just posted the Rome series under another thread and came to post a couple of others on my TBR:

Song of Troy Colleen McCullough
Helen of Troy Margaret George

I love the story of Troy!

Carla Nayland | 36 comments I'd put Boudica under history rather than myth/folklore. She was certainly all too real for the Romans :-)

Robin | 33 comments I saw Boudica mentioned here and I just finished reading "Dreaming the Eagle," the first of Manda Scott's series on her.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 227 comments Was it good?

It was okay. It focused on her early years before she even became known as Boudicca. Some parts were quite interesting, others fell flat for me. But I do intend on reading the rest of the series (three more books).

Will be interested in your total assessment, Robin.

Melisende | 75 comments Vanessa Collingridge wrote a book on Boudicca - a good start for those unfamiliar - a waste of time for those who are.

message 11: by Christine (new)

Christine (chrisarrow) There is also The Eagle and the Raven. Boudicca is a supporting character. Book is good.

There is also a chapter on Boudicca in The Warrior Queens
