Happy April, members!

This is our thread for June nominations. This June we will be reading a Women’s Prize for Fiction longlister, and a Read Around the World selection from the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA). This one can be fiction or non fiction, please remember to indicate your country with your nomination.

I’ve included a link to the Women’s Prize page below, but will edit this comment when I have time to link the long list for your ease of access. Feel free to peruse the list and nominate any one book from the long list that you would like to read with the group.

(I would also gladly re-read the Art of losing. I have it in French, read it when it came out a few years ago.)

it's quite the Women's Fiction Long List - authors from so many countries and cultures.

I'd like to nominate Nightbloom by Peace Adzo Medie, a female author from Ghana and would be happy to lead discussion if this book is selected.

This book is about childhood female friendship and bonds, class, race and its impact on life in Ghana and the U.S. particularly on women that can transforms lives. Particularly if silenced, by choice or not, events can be harmful and perceived and remembered differently. A story to teach us and also to warm our hearts.

It is! I’ve added quite a few to my shelf already, but will wait until I see what gets voted into the group read so I can save that one for June. I’m looking forward to seeing what the group chooses.
