I've only read Case Histories and thought it was great. I really should check out something by Jon Meacham. I always thought he was very interesting when I've seen him interviewed. Happy reading.

Thanks, Lea! Yes, I am excited to read The Count of Monte Cristo. I enjoyed the Three Musketeers - I like his writing style. Yes, I am really into biographies right now. I am currently reading Washington by Chernow and it's amazing. Have to continue my founding fathers quest. Thanks for the encouragement!

I've got Washington by Chernow on my individual list and I'm really excited about it. I've only read Hamilton by him, but I loved it and I keep meaning to read more books. I'm so glad to hear you are loving it. I also almost had the book by Meachum on my list. I'm casually trying to read about the presidents - too many other challenges going to say it's a focus at this point...but I'm currently reading Mornings on Horseback and I am loving it so far. Happy reading!!

message 13: by Mary (new)

Mary | 78 comments Thanks, Lea for the tip Mornings on Horseback I've added it to my list. I went to DC in October for the first time and went out to Mt. Vernon which was amazing. I also went to the Library of Congress and saw Jefferson's library - I was a complete
nerd and loved it. All those founding fathers are fascinating. I hope you enjoy Washington- we'll have to discuss!

Ann at the Beach | 128 comments I've read There There and Say Nothing... both excellent books. Many of your others are already on my TBR-- I will be watching to see what you think.

Your trip to DC sounds amazing. I loved the Library of Congress too, I just wanted to live there and read. Mt. Vernon was pretty impressive too. There's so much to see and do in DC, I'd love to go back for another visit.

Let's definitely talk when we both read Washington this year. :-)

Mary | 78 comments Regarding The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism I gave it 4 stars.

If you seeking to understand the history and politics of what has gone on on Evangelical Churches in America, Alberta's book is thoughtful and we'll researched.

Kudos on knocking out the first book, Mary! ☺️

Mary | 78 comments I really enjoyed The Frozen River Great story and interesting window into the period, 1780's Maine. I liked knowing that the main character was an actual person and that she did in fact keep a daybook.

Hi Alondra, sorry for the late reply. I am feeling good about it. If I complete 6, I am happy. Anything after is gravy. I have enjoyed my selections too. How is your list going?

I am way behind, but I think I can do it now that most of my garden is being put to bed. I was OUTSIIIDDDEE. Hehheehe..... :D

I don't think I read too much of anything for like 3-4 months. Now, I HAVE to read 7 books from each challenge, just to meet the 12 on each of those lists. What was I thinking??

*cries*

Mary | 78 comments Hi Alondra

Gardening and being outside sounds lovely. Sometimes the books just have to wait! Fall is the perfect time to get back into it.
