I will be putting the rest of the series on my to read list.I am using my iPad while riding in my car. Hubby was able to make a connection via his cell phone. Will write more later

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I haven't started it yet,Katherine. I'm finishing up my challenges first, then I'm digging in.

message 22: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (last edited Jul 10, 2010 12:26AM) (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments I read it, but didn't love it. I feel it will be forgettable for me. I also felt like the whole "stud club" idea was lame.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

HOLY CHAPTER 13!

message 24: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I just started this last night, and I'm at chapter 4. I thought it was funny how he picked her up and carried her out of the ball at the end of chapter 1.

message 25: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I'm on Chapter 10 and had to put it down for a bit. Will pick it up after finishing "Devil in Winter".

Heidi, how are you liking it?

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments Bekah wrote: "That was cute. I don't remember chapter 13, heidi... what happend???"

Holy Moses - how could you forget Chapter 13? Small clue:

"You should be trembling in your slippers, because I am tired and frustrated and about two heartbeats away from throwing you to the bed, ripping that dress from your body, and making you mine, whether you wish it or not."

message 33: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments maybe i just read this book at the wrong time.... :-)

However, I really didn't like the whole stud club angle. I did like the hero, but I don't recall anything memorable....other than the card games, and that first dance.

Will go peruse it again!

message 34: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments Like I said I'm only on Chapter 10 but so far the Hero doesn't do much for me. The Heroine is supporting a brother that needs to hit rock bottom so he can get back on his feet. There doesn't seem to be much substance. I really don't understand why they got married. So I will read on and maybe it will pick up. It sounds like chpt 13 has promise.

message 35: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments It gets better. I didn't feel like there were any peaks and valleys in this book, meaning, not terribly suspenseful suspense, if you know what I mean? But I'm still loving it. Like 20 pages to go.

message 36: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Haddix (tlhaddix) I read this - didn't realize it was a book club read. Hope it is okay if I chime in. It was my first Tessa Dare book, and left me with mixed feelings. I really enjoyed certain parts, like the card games :) but not so much the personalities of the H/h. Have a little problem with the issue the young girl/ward confronts at the end of the book. I don't want to post too much detail and give anything away.

Can't wait to discuss this with you all, though.

message 37: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I did finish it tonight. I enjoyed it. It was also my first Tessa Dare read. I'm heard not such good things about the 2nd book, so I don't know if I'll rush out and buy it or not. I do want to know who the killer is, so likely I'll read them eventually.

message 38: by Katherine (last edited Jul 20, 2010 06:20AM) (new)

Katherine | 828 comments SPOILERS:

I finished this book last night. I ended up liking Spencer but could never relate to Amelia. I think it was because the author spent too much time telling me how caring she was instead of showing me. Come on, Spencer has broken ribs and she hugs him and then leaves. I wish it would have ended with Amelia going to Spencer instead of Spencer having to go to Amelia. He hadn't done anything but be kind and try to explain she was an idiot when it came to her brother Jack. There were a few cute moments, my favorite was the sparing between Ashworth and Spencer and them ending up "not enemies".

message 39: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 848 comments Heidi wrote: "HOLY CHAPTER 13!"

I'm only on chapter 9 - sounds like I'd better keep reading! Could chapter 13 have anything to do with the delayed wedding night?!

So far, Amelia is a very pragmatic girl who blindly loves her brothers no matter what - other than finding the zest in kissing, she has no room for romance, but then, so far Spencer hasn't been romantic.

message 40: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Katherine,

SPOILER --I agree 100% regarding Amelia. I made some comments about her in my review but she's far from a favorite. It wasn't until the end when she sort of redeemed herself that I liked her at all.

message 41: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 848 comments Finished - and mostly liked it, especially chapters 17 & 18. My SPOILERS are below:

I agree with Katherine & Dhestiny about Amelia - everything focused around her blind devotion to Jack, and I didn't feel that she tried very hard with Claudia until after the big revelation. And I'm with you, Katherine, about the ending - if we're going to have a strong-willed heroine, she has to be strong enough to admit that she was at fault, especially after everything else that Spencer had gone through.

message 42: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Yeah, she needed to grovel and didn't.

message 43: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Haddix (tlhaddix) I didn't like Amelia. Tried to but just couldn't do it. Her character was not the least bit sympathetic in my opinion. I have no patience in the real world with people who bring problems on themselves and then whine about them instead of doing something to fix them, and even less patience with that trait in a character in a book.

SPOILER:

Something I had a big problem with, as well, was Claudia and the cause of her angst. I know that happens in the real world, but I'm reading fiction. I want to be taken away from things like that. She's 15 for crying out loud. Was it really necessary? Couldn't she have been just a little older? Maybe 17?

message 44: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Jul 22, 2010 05:07PM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I see your point, T. But really, many girls were married by 17 so I think I can see the need to make her 15.

message 45: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I was just hoping in another book this would be resolved and some good could come to Claudia.

message 46: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Katherine - I'm still holding out hope for that. I haven't read book 2, so I don't know what has happened yet. ***fingers crossed for a resolution***

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Het Dhes...my other Tessa dare book I have are:

Goddess of the Hunt
Surrender of a Siren
A Lady of Persuasion
and the next one after One dance.
Twice Tempted by a Rogue

message 48: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I have all of those as well... well, the 2 after One Dance are coming soon. They've been shipped.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

I still need to get the third one it was reliased today. but wally world didn't have it!

message 50: by Trewen (new)

Trewen | 33 comments For all of you who aren't loving One Dance, I agree. It wasn't my favorite either. But, don't let it dissuade you from reading Goddess of the Hunt. It's fabulous! I've read all of Tessa Dare's books and it's my favorite.
