useFOSS Thanks. The other one by Hartwell is this one's sequel. As for Westfahl's book, it doesn't seem to be an short SF collection.

Dangerous Visions The 35th Anniversary Edition by Harlan Ellison
I have a new edition, signed by Ellison, an author I've never read.

Larry (hal9000i) | 108 comments Well I asked because I'm not sure how much, if any, of its contents are hard SF.

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 47 comments Here's one with 34 stories in it. It's an eBook available in several formats. Only one story doesn't seem to qualify as "hard sf".

The Complete Alpha Dreamer by Ken Brody
The Complete Alpha Dreamer from Amazon.

David (davidbrandt) | 106 comments Al's mention of an ebook reminded me - there's a FREE ebook anthology of astronomy-related SF that can be downloaded from Mike Brotherton's website (and perhaps elsewhere) called Diamonds in the Sky. See the webpage:

Based on online reviews (1 only, repeated in multiple spots) you seem to be the only one who has ever read this book Al. How come?

message 11: by Al "Tank" (new)

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 47 comments Actually, a number of people have read the book. Very few readers bother to review a book so that others may benefit from their experience. The folks, such as you, here at Goodreads are a wonderful exception.

I try to do my best for a book that I like and I'm not above warning folks about a stinker either (although I'm fussy about what I buy since money is so hard to come by, so I rarely read a really bad book). I suppose I should spend more time reviewing the few disappointments I've read, but it's so much more rewarding to help a good book than to be Mr. Negativity (Like the guy in the play, "Critic's Choice").
