Are the current school hours good?

Beautiful Cheese (Celine) (zeelazybum) | 131 comments I can hardly comment on this because I'm homeschooled and my school ranges from anywhere from a half hour to a few hours (depends on how quickly I want to get it done and how well it gets done.)

message 3: by Brielle (new)

Brielle (briebrie5) I think it would be nice if school started a little later, like at 9:30 and ended later, like around 4. I could get a little more sleep! Currently, my school starts at 8:25 and ends@3:35.

message 4: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
A school day of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm would be much nicer then 8:05 to 3:05... I need my sleep.

message 5: by Brielle (new)

Brielle (briebrie5) Agreed

My mum actually favors the idea of school starting as late as 10:00am lol. That would work for me!

Or anything later than 7:00 am .. D:

message 7: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
I don't want to get out of school at 5:00 though, that's the only problem with that for me. 4:00 is okay...

message 8: by Anony-miss (new)

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 399 comments Mod
True ..

message 9: by Brielle (new)

Brielle (briebrie5) Me 2! Anything after 4 would b a problem 4 me cuz i have dance.

message 10: by Anony-miss (new)

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 399 comments Mod
Right .. I also forgot about the afterschool programs x-P

message 11: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
Well I can imagine after school programs would be pushed back since well they wouldn't have any business if they go on while school is still in session.

message 12: by Brielle (new)

Brielle (briebrie5) Yeah probably

Honestly, I'd prefer to have school start as early as reasonably possible so that you have more time to do stuff afterwards, so I like the current hours (8:13 to 3:36 here. Yes, the minutes are really awkward.)

message 14: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
NO! I need more sleep (and if you say go to bed earlier I will be quite annoyed, it doesn't work that way for me, I prefer night over day it's more peaceful, I like it more, I'm relatively nocturnal)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
Sleep in school :P lol I'd never tell someone to go to sleep earlier, that sounds like such a parent thing... and my optimal hours are 5 pm to 8-ish am '-_-

message 16: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
I feel guilty when I sleep in school..... Lol

message 17: by Anony-miss (new)

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 399 comments Mod
I need more sleep too. But the great thing about being at the top of biology class last year? Being allowed to sleep during class! Yes-s-s! I still miss that :-P

message 18: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
Cody: xD It always makes me feel like I'm being more efficient with my time than I would otherwise '-_-

Tenebris: Whaaaaaaaat??? I want that class!!! x]

I generally read when I have free time...

For free time, I do homework '-_- I sleep during long lectures :P

message 21: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
He he, I usually pay attention... except during math... I dozed several times last year... it was so freaking boring...

message 22: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
Math I never pay attention in '-_- And rarely in French...depends on the teacher for history.... :P

message 23: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
I love history lol... I always pay attention in it.

message 24: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

That's me for science classes xD And English if it's about a book, any book, even if I don't particularly like it '-_-

message 25: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
English, Science, History, or any elective pertaining to those subjects, I pay attention greatly in, they actually interest me. Math is a scourge.

message 26: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
I love math, but we should be going 10x faster imo. It's boring to me because we're spoonfed every single little bit; when we're introduced to a totally new topic I'm interested '-_-

message 27: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
I'm terrible at it. Anything else I understand almost immediately... math is terrible...

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
Heh, well my dad's a math PhD and my mom's also a math major so I kind of have to be good at it '-_-

message 29: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
Ah... that sucks...

message 30: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
Not really, it comes really naturally to me >.< (Actually, I remember almost figuring out parametric equations on my own when I was 9-10 but then kind of confusing myself...anyway, when we were learning about it last year I was like "HOLY FUCK I KNOW THIS!!!" xP)

message 31: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
What the hell is a parametric equation? O.o I don't want to know actually...

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
xD You learn them in pre-calc :P

And actually, I realized I was bragging with the age - it must've been closer to 12, as I didn't have enough of a basis with functions at 9 to have made the inferences I did '-_-

I'm going to be in Geometry this year.... I took Algebra 1 last year... I'm only average in math...

Er, if you don't mind me asking, what grade are you going to be in? '-_-

message 35: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
10th lol, Geometry 1 is the normal class for 10th grade in my district lol (for some reason they split apart algebra 1 and 2 and stuck geometry in the middle) Advanced math on the other hand took Algebra 2 in 9th grade and Algebra 1 in 8th and they're taking geometry honours this year.

message 36: by Anony-miss (new)

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 399 comments Mod
In my school it was algebra 1 then geometry (or honors geometry) and then algebra 2. So yeah .. we had both algebras split like that.

message 37: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
Ours wasn't like that till this year actually... I think it was because we had really low scores on geometry on our state tests.

message 38: by Anony-miss (new)

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 399 comments Mod
Hmm.

I knew some students who flunked the state testing because they thought that it "didn't matter" -_-

Oh, yeah, your 'normal math' works the same as ours, for our advanced math it's the same as normal math except you start Algebra 1 in 7th grade, geometry 8th, etc....

Tenebris In Lux wrote: "I knew some students who flunked the state testing because they thought that it "didn't matter" -_-"

...Like me? >.<

I actually took advanced math in 7th grade, it was pre algebra and I did relatively well I got mid to high 80's all year, but then I got into Algebra 1 in 8th grade and I was failing so I left >.<

message 41: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
BWHAHAHAHA I just got back from scheduling (for like what classes I'm taking this year) and I was able to get into the 11th grade AP history class!

Beautiful Cheese (Celine) (zeelazybum) | 131 comments Wait, pre-algebra in 7th grade is advanced math?I just took it in 1"7th grade. Thought it was the normal math for that grade.

message 43: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
For our district it's advanced, it may be different for you.

Beautiful Cheese (Celine) (zeelazybum) | 131 comments Maybe. I don't know.

In our district pre-algebra is normal math too :P
But really??? For me I couldn't do pre-algebra to save my life, but when I got into algebra it all clicked >.<

message 46: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
It was the other way around for me. Algebra killed me.

message 47: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
It's just all logic...I like it >.< I couldn't do geometry, though, although I partially blame my teacher for that...I couldn't understand him, and neither could anyone else in the school >.< He was just confusing :P

message 48: by Cody, Ninja (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 905 comments Mod
Algebra has no logic to it! I know logic algebra is not logic. I'm better at Geometry....

message 49: by ♥ Rachel♥, Hey, whoa, I'm a mod! (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 767 comments Mod
Algebra is pure logic :P Math in general is.
For geometry, I realized about halfway through my Algebra 2 semester that if I just rewrote all the geometry problems as a set of equations and took all the visual out, I understood much better. I have no clue why that works, it's supposed to be the other way around o.o I still hate geometry though x]

Beautiful Cheese (Celine) (zeelazybum) | 131 comments To me all math has pretty much no logic. But I'm actually pretty Ok at it.
