Fauuzzie I'm thinking that as well. Something supernatural. I also see a potential love triangle (square?) emerging...

Fauuzzie You mean the Ian character? He seems like the been-in-love-with-her-since-forever-but-too-chicken-to-do-anything-about-it type.
I'm thinking the most prominent love interest will be...what's his name? Asher is it? Asher, because they had the "mysterious encounter" outside.

Fauuzzie Dan actually does seem a bit gay.
And...wow, now that you mention it, it always IS the dark, brooding guy that gets the girl. Hmm....I'm trying to think of YA books where that isn't the case...
...so far I'm blank...

Fauuzzie No prob. I don't mind spoilers:)
For the first 2 chapters of A Beautiful Dark, with the fight scene and all...doesn't it kind of bring back memories of Fallen? (I'm assuming you've read it...?)

Fauuzzie *Resumes reading*

Fauuzzie Haha, me, too:P
Okay, so my thoughts: yes, she was most likely hovering over her bed. Authors do like to do that: say one thing isn't real or didn't happen, but then we find out later that it actually DID *gasp!* (It happened in Madapple)
And...Skye feels a strange and unnaturally powerful connection to Asher? Uh-oh. What shall we nickname him: Edward or Daniel? :D
Asher and Devin are cousins. Yikes. Kinda makes the "fighting over her" thing a tad awkward. Hope it doesn't happen. Actually, I'm seeing a more Asher vs. Ian approach.
Now that I'm onto Ian, did you notice a personality shift between the 2nd and 3rd chapters? Maybe I'm overanalyzing, but he seemed more comfortable around Skye in chapter 3 than he did in chapter 2.

Fauuzzie When Ian got all serious on Skye...I don't know, I guess I would too if someone's eyes were shining silver like mercury.
WAIT. Why do you think that is? She must be significant in heaven/hell if she's experiencing strange transformations.

Fauuzzie Guess we'll have to read on to find out...

Fauuzzie Yup:) Got the book right here.

Fauuzzie It's officially been admitted. It's a love square.

Fauuzzie One thing I noticed about these kind of books: the protagonist's best friend is almost always boy-crazy, am I right?
Asher's getting creepy with his stalking and mind-reading. Also...isn't the way he's always "smirking" and taunting Skye a bit annoying?
If he IS a mindreader, though...maybe the nickname Edward would be more appropriate:)

Fauuzzie Ooh, you're right! Patch is a much better comparison.
And I think Dan likes Cassie. Seems likely.

Fauuzzie There's rarely a scene where Cassie and Dan aren't together. He may just be hiding it.
Or I might be imagining things.
I don't know.
I also don't know why Skye has three loves interests. She can't possibly be that likable, can she?

Fauuzzie I can't get over the fact that Skye described Devin as a "perfect, beautiful fairy-tale prince."
Good thing he doesn't have an ego like Asher, because he can probably read minds, too.

Fauuzzie Probably ;)

Fauuzzie Hmmm...
My speculations are that Asher and Devin were sent to protect her while her mysterious powers are setting in. To protect her from what, we can only assume some "evil force" we haven't been introduced to yet.

Fauuzzie Call me crazy, but I'm still seeing Fallen...

Fauuzzie Mm-hmm.
Well...I don't really have anything else to say about these two chapters.
You?

Fauuzzie Two chapters later...
The whole trail incident just further proves my theory that Devin and Asher are there to protect her...only this time from herself...

Fauuzzie Creeper!!:)

Fauuzzie All in good time:)
I feel bad for Dan...
...Asher ate his French fries:(

Fauuzzie Besides the trail thing...not a whole lot to discuss in those chapters.
Moving on...

Fauuzzie Yup:)

Fauuzzie Well...she can float...she has power over electric devices...and she is the subject of an ongoing tug-of-war...
I don't know what I think.

Fauuzzie I don't know why she's going after Asher, though. Ian seems a better choice.

Fauuzzie *GASP!* He's a Firebender!!!
The story is tilting more towards supernatural abilities rather than angels. And...maybe she's the daughter of some particularly powerful beings...? Destined to be a prodigy? There's more to her parents' "deaths" than what's been revealed so far. Either they didn't actually die, or if they did, it happened for an entirely different reason then a car crash.

Fauuzzie I'm startin' right now then:)

Fauuzzie OK, I just read the excerpt on the back of the book for the first time...Asher doesn't have a heart? Does that mean we're back to demons?

Fauuzzie I KNEW it. I knew it I knew it I knew it IknewitIknewitIknewit...
To be fair, it was quite predictable. Daughter of a rebel and a guardian. Oh-so-special individual. And Asher and Devin were sent to protect her.
I knew it!

Fauuzzie I don't know if I like this book yet. Nothing has particularly caught my interest yet.

Fauuzzie Hmm...well, we're only halfway through, so my opinion may change yet! :D

Fauuzzie Cool:) I really want to know if they are angels or just people with wings...
If there is a difference...

Fauuzzie Ummm....how far are you in the book?

Fauuzzie About there.
But wings were mentioned in chapter 16.

Fauuzzie Okay:)
The word "angel" has never actually been used (yet), so I guess we'll just have to refer to them as Rebels and Guardians for the time being:D

Fauuzzie ...and of COURSE Asher is a Rebel...
:)

Fauuzzie Angels! You're first assumption was spot on.

Fauuzzie You skipped it?
I don't think I've ever done that when reading a book...
You're talented:D

Fauuzzie OK.
So, are you on chapter 17 or 21 now?

Fauuzzie I can already see Cassie and Dan's future.
And I'm kind of glad that Devin won't be participating in the Asher-Skye-Ian triangle.

Fauuzzie Are we reading 2 or 4 chapters at a time now?

Fauuzzie Haha. OK.
Full speed ahead then!

Fauuzzie Wait. So:
"I don't want to kiss you."
"I don't want you to kiss me."
"Oh, well, then it makes perfect sense that we should kiss right now."

What?

Fauuzzie What did you think?

Fauuzzie So Ian likes Skye, Skye likes Asher, Asher likes Skye, Devin likes Raven, Raven likes Devin, but is jealous of Skye because...?
Too many relationships going at one time.
I'm confused.

Fauuzzie Oh, and let's not forget Cassie and Dan.

Fauuzzie Where's Jo's love interest!?

Fauuzzie Well, she does go off on her own for days at a time. Secret lover!
...Doesn't she kind of remind you of the Granny from Hoodwinked?

Fauuzzie Possibly.
Jo is definitely an angel. The author has made her too much of a "cool, fun person" for her to be clueless about it.

Fauuzzie The entire series is most likely going to be the Rebels and Guardians squabbling over which side she's on. An epic war has to be raged before they realize that she's not one of either and belongs to both.
Or neither...
