Enduring Love question

I don't have the book in front of me, but I thought the case study in the appendix referenced Joe and Clarissa's future. Something like "J and C have repaired their relationship and went on to get married".

Appendix 1 concludes the story assuring that "R (Joe Rose) and M (Clarissa Mellon) were reconciled" and because Clarissa is infertile they "successfully adopted a child" making their lifetime dream of starting a family come true

this is one of my favorite books

but if you look further online, I am sure I read somewhere that McEwan confirmed in an interview that the Appendices were all part of the fiction, that is to say, the whole thing wasn't based on real case studies,it was all fiction. But yes, I did like this McEwan novel, much more than Atonement, which I hated.

Another terrific book from a superb author - I've enjoyed every one of his books, and hope to continue to enjoy many more of them. For me, he's up there with the best of contemporary writers.

This is interesting! I've read it a few months ago and it was a terrific read. I loved their relationship before the whole mess, it was so real and quite heart-warming.

I have no idea whether they get back together after all, they might, but I personally think that even if they did, things will never be the same again between them. Their feeling, their faith in each other was scarred. They might get married but they will never love each other as they once did. The incident would linger at the back of their mind and every time they have a tiny disagreement they will think back of it. There are things that once they broken they can't be fixed.

Nevertheless, this book was brilliant! And so was Atonement. Have you read Amsterdam? I love that one! :))
