Far beneath the surface of the earth, upon the shores of the Starless Sea, there is a labyrinthine collection of tunnels and rooms filled with stories. The entryways that lead to this sanctuary are often hidden, sometimes on forest floors, sometimes in private homes, sometimes in plain sight. But those who seek will find. Their doors have been waiting for them.

How does one encompass a book in one review? or perhaps even thousands? One doesn't. This was the kind of book that pulled you under the surface and forced you to breath and understand it as if it was apart of your very being. The Starless Sea was a place that readers could only dream to be apart of, a place where magic exsists and time combined with fate conquer all.

Zachary Ezra Rawlins was a character that I found very magnetic. He was smart, handsome, nerdy, and unsure of himself. When I say "unsure of himself" I truly mean that he was never sure of the right choice- but that is everyone's fatal flaw. Not every decision we make in our mundane life is black and white, but we make our decisons the best we can with what we believe is the best. Fate and time take care of the rest.

There were books within books of this story and I will not lie, I felt as if I was living for the stories within the The Starless Sea. They drew me in and kept breathing life into me because they were absolutely enchanting. Erin Morganstern did a beautiful job of weaving in the stories from the books into the story itself to tie everything up perfectly (which is very hard to successfully do). I also had a hard time initially with this book because I was searching for remnants of the Night Circus within The Starless Sea when it just wasn't the Night Circus. This book was its own world, with its own characters, as it should.

Every book is its own special magic, but this one spoke to me in different kind of way. This story ended but it never really ended, it brought closure and satisfaction, but the kind where you know that the story really didn't end there. Where the book ended was just a new type of beginning.

“Endings are what give stories meaning. I don’t know if I believe that. I think the whole story has meaning but I also think to have a whole story-shaped story it needs some sort of resolution. Not even a resolution, some appropriate place to leave it. A goodbye. I think the best stories feel like they’re still going, somewhere, out in story space.”
