What a great start for a new series! This one is much more lighthearted than her other new series "Winsford Shifters". I enjoyed the exagregated stereotypes and watch the MCs grow closer and eventually fall for each other. Alastair is quite superficial and more than a little in love with himself, but despite all that he loves deeply and the more you get to know him the more you discover that there is more to him than just looks. Nix seems like a great guy I would want to be friends with. I hope that I would be as much of a champ as he is if I should ever be thrust into such a situation. He copes with dead pan humor and I LOVE IT. People around him, especially his family think he is joking or being sarcastic when he tells them about having had to flee to another realm or needing shelter because of one reason or another, in fact they think he is smoking some really great weed. The only thing I didn't really get was the role of the BFF, what was her purpose and it didn't seem like she did a splendid job of preparing him for what was to come, except for some fencing lessons.

I can't wait for the next book!

Still love this silly but engaging book that keeps you on your toes but also make you ridiculously happy. At first I thought that Nix would be the crazy one of this story, but soon you realize that he is actually the normal one *gasp...

Please don't think that me lying to you for twenty-nine years (really it was only like twenty-six because I had no idea what was going on those first three years), drugging you, and taking you in the middle of a scary forest has dampened my love for you.

Before Alastair can push the door open, it's pulled open by my grandma who narrows her eyes at him. Her eyes run up and down him, and even though the man is inhumanly gorgeous she tsks at him. "My god's green earth, who is this gaudy-looking man you've brought with you, Nixon?"
"Oh, dear heavens, it's a ghoul!" Alastair declares. "If only I had my sword, I'd save you, Nix."

"You shoved a GPS tracker up his ass?" I ask, wondering if Nix knew abut the probing.
"Wait? What? No" Ew, I'm not that weird. I was given a tiny tracker that fits right into a needle, and one night while he was asleep, I pinned him down and stabbed it right into the back of his neck. It sounded like a good spot. I really wasn't sure since the instructions were very obscure. Hee woke up hollering, and I had to tell him there was a spider on his neck. He was scared of spiders for years after that."
I stare at this crazy woman. Why would Nix choose to friend her? Not only that but risk his life to save her.
