The vibes were IT in this book!!! There's so much mystery and talk and theorizing surrounding the Library Alexandria to this day that building a fantasy world built it is bound to be at the very least intriguing, and I think Olivie Blake KILLED it! The story was interesting, the character were incredible, all the little and big conflicts were cool... I loved how she built intrigue amongst the characters, and the things that were meant to be unnerving really hit the mark. I think having a good set up is very much a necessity for the story to work, and the first third was a really good exemple of how to present the pieces in play. And the last act was INCREDIBLE! I was jaw dropped by a lot of the turns the story took, and the more intimate moments between the characters were oh so good. Also, the way the book played with time and dimensions and reality was fun, and so, so weird. I especially love the dynamics between Libby and Nico and between Callum and Parisa. I don't think there was enough yet for me to get a grasp of Reina though. I hope moving on in the series Blake gives her more depth. Tristan was very conflicting for me. I kinda wanted to hate him, but then he would get me in the feels. Parisa is probably the coolest ever, and I think her complexity as a character is probably unriveled, as far as I'm concerned. Callum... I hate him! I truly do! I mean, he's skeezy and arrogant and I absolutely do not trust anything he does or says. But Libby and Nico were definitely my faves. like I said, their dynamic is great and it really shines above anything else for me. Libby in particular.... I feel her, man! Atlas is a mystery still, though I found him very interesting. And Dalton... Again, I don't really trust him, he's sketchy as hell!! Oh, yeah.... I loved that at some point everyone just decided "well, might as well have some sex!" I mean, yeah, right? That would happen in those circumstances... I honestly felt like everyone should just get over themselves and just get together, but, alas, we can't have everything we want. There was one particular scene that left me gasping a little, thought, despite the fact that I don't mind fade to blacks, I wish this one had gone on at least a little longer. I would like to note that this is the third book I read this month where people just suddenly get really horny??? (Is it me? Am I the drama?) My only issue middle of the book was that it got a tiny bit boring towards the middle. I feel like some scenes could have been sped up, shortened, cut. But it was pretty mild. I wouldn't say this is a new favorite series yet, but it has potential. ...more "
