“तुम्हें मेरी खूबसूरती की परवाह नहीं।” “मैं औरतों की एक हद तक इज्जत करता हूं।” देवराज चौहान बोला। “एक हद तक-हद नापने का कौन-सा पैमाना है तुम्हारा?” जार्जी का स्वर कड़वा हो गया। देवराज चौहान ने जार्जी को देखा। “औरत जब तक औरत रहे तो मेरे मन “तुम्हें मेरी खूबसूरती की परवाह नहीं।” “मैं औरतों की एक हद तक इज्जत करता हूं।” देवराज चौहान बोला। “एक हद तक-हद नापने का कौन-सा पैमाना है तुम्हारा?” जार्जी का स्वर कड़वा हो गया। देवराज चौहान ने जार्जी को देखा। “औरत जब तक औरत रहे तो मेरे मन में उसके लिये इज्जत रहती है। औरत जब अपना औरतपन छोड़कर गिरी हरकतों पर आ जाती है तो फिर मैं उसे उसके अंजाम तक पहुंचाने में परहेज नहीं करता।” “कैसी गिरी हरकत की बात कर रहे हो? औरत कपड़े उतारे तो तुम इसे गिरी हरकत मानते हो?” “नहीं। मैं इसे गिरी हरकत नहीं मानता। ये औरत की मर्जी और सामने खड़े मर्द की मर्जी कि तब वो क्या करता है?” “खूब!” जार्जी ने व्यंग्य से कहा –“वैसे तुम जैसा मर्द ऐसे मौके पर क्या करता है?” “मां-बहन कहकर उसे कपड़े पहनने को कह देता हूं।” सपाट स्वर में कहते हुए देवराज चौहान सामने देखने लगा। “इसका मतलब मर्द नहीं हो तुम।” “मर्द हूं। भूखा भेड़िया नहीं हूं।” “अगर औरत तुमसे प्यार करना चाहे तो?” “मेरे पास औरत है नगीना। उसके अलावा मैं किसी से प्यार नहीं करता। बेहतर होगा कि तुम ये बेकार की बातें छोड़ दो। मैं सिर्फ दौलत की बातें करता हूं।” देवराज चौहान के स्वर में किसी तरह का भाव नहीं था। जार्जी अजीब-सी निगाहों से उसे देखती रही। “तुम अजीब आदमी नहीं हो।” “नहीं। मैं ठीक आदमी हूं।” देवराज चौहान सामने देखता कह उठा। अब रास्ते में गिरे पड़े पत्थर कम होने लगे थे –“तुमने कहा था कि सात-आठ घंटों का रास्ता है।” “मेरे ख्याल में अब वो रास्ता तीन-चार घंटे का ही बाकी बचा है।” “क्या मतलब?” “रास्ते के चार घंटे मैंने, तुम्हारे और अपने लिए रखे थे। नये मर्दों के साथ प्यार करके मुझे खुशी होती है।” जार्जी ने गंभीर स्वर में कहा –“तुम पहली नजर में ही मुझे अच्छे... ...more
