"The fact that Mrs. Little just straight dipped seems odd to me, especially concerning how passionate she was as an educator. These children are already enduring several struggles, they don't necessarily need their teacher leaving for more [irl] character development. While I may not be from an uber rich family or a law professor, it's exciting to be able to read things I relate to (I too am an American born Chinese! I call my grandma Ah Ma! I've been to the Malay peninsula!). Reading little nuances about my culture that relate to the actual plot gets me so hyped to read further into this book. Wish I had $ tho." — Mar 01, 2021 09:36AM

I enjoy the plot and characters, and the creativity is outstanding. The combination of third person limited and current tense makes the writing a tad weird though, hence the lack of fifth star.
