Ms Pilcher does not hold back on writing characters that she *really* doesn't like! I did think the two young people, Danus and Antonia, were a bit broadly drawn, and some of the other characters were too good to be true, but I got drawn into the story, and shed tears at the appropriate moments. Having skimmed other people's reviews of Rosamunde Pilcher's works, I don't think I'll chase down any others of her books, but I enjoyed reading this on....more
