Unless you mean him to be a blocking-type player, it's probably too early for stud quarterback. 1930 would've seen a tailback running single wing form, which was the dominant formation for the first 50 years of the game. Tailbacks would take the snap. To their side would be, in order, a fullback (playing similar to a halfback in the modern game), a quarterback (playing like a blocking back), and a wingback (generally a modern receiver), all set-up in what looked like a wing. In this story's time, it would be a few more years before the offensive game would start looking like what the modern game would become.
