"This book has been quite a journey so far. I’m about 2/3 of the way through it now, and it is interesting how Kamala Harris navigates the political landscape, littered with double standards, personal attacks, and difficult decisions, all on such a short, fast-paced timeline. I can only imagine what decisions I would have made if I was in her shoes. I know how this ends, but I look forward to reading her POV." Nov 16, 2025 10:34AM

"I’m getting the hang of this narrative style! And it is so neat to see how the slightest changes of thought, or smallest differences in reaction can alter the course of future events for each Archie. Every time I take a break and come back to the book, I have to give myself a refresher on what each Archie experienced and how each one’s personality differs." Nov 16, 2025 10:37AM

“This is how colonialism works. It convinces us that the fallout from resistance is entirely our fault, that the immoral choice is resistance itself rather than the circumstances that demanded it.”
R.F. Kuang, Babel

“You have such a great fear of freedom, brother. It's shackling you. You've identified so hard with the colonizer, you think any threat to them is a threat to you. When are you going to realize you can't be one of them?”
R.F. Kuang, Babel

Assata Shakur
“The rulers of this country have always considered their property more important than our lives.”
Assata Shakur, Assata: An Autobiography

“That's just what translation is, I think. That's all speaking is. Listening to the other and trying to see past your own biases to glimpse what they're trying to say. Showing yourself to the world, and hoping someone else understands.”
R.F. Kuang, Babel

“That's the beauty of learning a new language. It should feel like an enormous undertaking. It ought to intimidate you. It makes you appreciate the complexity of the ones you know already.”
R.F. Kuang, Babel
