Truthfully I didn't expect to like a SyFy book as much as I did! It’s probably one of the best books I've read lately I really enjoyed it. I kept wanting more and more so I finished the book pretty fast. This is also why I rated the book a five out of five stars. It was so well written and it was very detailed. I could imagine a lot of the scenes in my head while reading. The book was definitely something new for me and I really appreciated how different it was from other books. I really never knew what to expect to happen next reading chapter by chapter. Almost every chapter took me to a different place which made it even better. I was never bored with this book!
The book starts off with the main character Clary Fray and her best friend Simon entering the Pandemonium Club in New York City. Right away the action starts! Simon thinks Clary is seeing things when she says she shes beautiful woman get followed into a storage closet by a guy with some sort of weapon. Clary never had expected to see a murder that night, especially a murder committed by three teenagers. She wanted to call the cops on the so called teenagers and was going to until the dead body of this boy disappeared into thin air. It just vanished. This is Clary's very first meeting with Shadow Hunters Jace, Isabelle, and Alec. You may be asking yourself what exactly is a Shadow Hunter. Well they are warriors who are dedicated to keeping the world safe from demons. From that night at the club on, her life is officially changed. She finds out she had been living a lie her whole life because her mother was afraid of what would happen if Clary would have known the truth. Now the truth is out and Clary has another life she never knew about. Now she’s able to see the world in a different way because the spell has faded. This book is just one big adventure with a romance of course between two of the main characters Clary and Jace the Shadow Hunter. He is very good looking but, kind of a jerk."Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself." This is just one quote from the book of Jace being completely full of himself and thinking he’s the hottest thing ever. Some say he’s that way because of the death of his father when he was young. “Don't." Clary raised a warning hand. "I'm not really in the mood right now." "That's got to be the first time a girl's ever said that to me," Jace mused.” This quote shows Jace thinking he’s all that and that he likes Clary. It’s his way of flirting. I put this quote in there because this is one of my favorite parts in the book. You’ll just have to read the book to see why.
This book will definitely take you on a journey you would never expect. Its out there but it’s an awesome fantasy book. I would say it’s a must read and by the way the movie for The City of Bones comes out in August! ...more "
