Dozing off, it occurs to me that if there is a corrective to the problem of my existential loneliness, it is this study of light.
I love paying attention to light and sunlight. This reminds me of words to one of my favorite songs: "how does it feel to fall down? How does it feel to know the end? I cannot find my way to. Why can't I find my way? The answer's in the sunlight. The sunlight. The sunlight. The sunlight." -Caspian, Waking Season, Gone In Bloom and Bough

“We’ve bought into the idea that education is about training and “success”, defined monetarily, rather than learning to think critically and to challenge. We should not forget that the true purpose of education is to make minds, not careers. A culture that does not grasp the vital interplay between morality and power, which mistakes management techniques for wisdom, which fails to understand that the measure of a civilization is its compassion, not its speed or ability to consume, condemns itself to death.”

“Jesus's resurrection is the beginning of God's new project not to snatch people away from earth to heaven but to colonize earth with the life of heaven. That, after all, is what the Lord's Prayer is about.”
