“Maratonas - tai intensyvi, skausminga visokeriopų nuodų pašalinimo procedūra, be to, tai gera mokykla savo trūkumus paversti privalumais. Bijai nuovargio? Nebijok pavargti. Sunku bėgti į kalną? Bėgiok į kalną. Bijai ilgų nuotolių? Bėk maratoną. Manau, kad žmoguje yra kažkas stipresnio už fizikos dėsnius, chemiją, racionalumą, teorijas... Kas tai? Nežinau. Žinau tik tiek, kad būtinai reikia atlaikyti pačius sunkiausius momentus. Tikrosios žmogaus savybės, valia, stiprybė ir silpnumas atsiskleidžia tada, kai jis yra ties riba ir nebesislapsto.
