"After listening to the audiobook version the first book, I was excited to read #2. And... Sigh. I'm already over the stupidity of the sabotage plot, and B) the love triangle.

Like, if Marguerite reeeally wanted to, she could avoid the sabotage. She could bring each parent into her confidence, help them make a data backup, "sabotage" the real data, and done!

Also, the fate thing is very sigh. That is all."

Vivian Vande Velde
“After a little bit, [the wolf] heard a human voice call out from inside the house, "Little Red Riding Hood, is that you? Have you come to visit your Granny?" But since the wolf didn't speak human, he guessed what the person had said was: "Did I hear something? Is there someone out there who needs to come in, could you scratch louder?" So that's what the wolf did: he scratched louder.”
Vivian Vande Velde, Cloaked in Red

“The wolf sniffed beneath the door to be sure this was a human cottage. The scent was undeniable. No pigs, except in bacon form. The wolf thought bacon form was a very sensible way for pigs to behave.”

“And then I met a woman,
now comes the funny part;
with eyes that petrified my brain
and sunk into my heart.”
Hugh Antoine D'Arcy

Frances Hardinge
“At one o’clock, the ever-logical Right-Eye Grand Steward woke up to discover that during his sleep his left-eyed counterpart had executed three of his advisors for treason, ordered the creation of a new carp pool and banned limericks. Worse still, no progress had been made in tracking down the Kleptomancer, and of the two people believed to be his accomplices, both had been released from prison and one had been appointed food taster. Right-Eye was not amused. He had known for centuries that he could trust nobody but himself. Now he was seriously starting to wonder about himself.”
Frances Hardinge, A Face Like Glass

Mary Ann Shaffer
“I kept trying to explain and he kept shouting until I began to cry from frustration. Then he felt remorseful, which was so unlike him and endearing that I almost changed my mind and said yes. But then I imagined a lifetime of having to cry to get him to be kind, and I went back to no again.”
Mary Ann Shaffer, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
