"Under other circumstances, I might be finding this book hilarious and itching to read more of it. Having just finished two Christopher Moore books (Love Story #1 and #2), this one feels like eating a cake after having had rich marshmallows and jangris. Maybe I should come back to this later, when the aftereffects are less potent." — Sep 18, 2016 02:47AM

"Hmmm. Seems more political than psychological so far, and I didn't know that the agenda behind the book was to push evolutionary psychology as a valid branch of psychological study - I'm okay with evopsych itself, just would have liked it if the title had hinted at that fact.
Hoping the book still pays off in the end though." — Aug 19, 2016 04:52AM

"Mary Roach's style is apt for NYT article type works, but gets tiring in book form. I'm finding that even a topic like sexual research can be rendered boring and dull." — Dec 22, 2017 02:40AM

“He’s stuck out there. He thinks he’s totally alone and that we all gave up on him. What kind of effect does that have on a man’s psychology?” He turned back to Venkat. “I wonder what he’s thinking right now.”

“We all have scars; both inside and out. Use your experience to support those who are going down the same road of destruction you once went down. Know that your past is worth more than the pain you once carried, because it can now be used to comfort and give strength to another soul who is suffering. Cherish your trials and tribulations as gifts; embrace these opportunities to share the grace you have been given.”

“There are moments when we have real fun because, just for the moment, we don't think about things and then--we remember--and the remembering is worse than thinking of it all the time would have been.”

“Emotional pain cannot kill you, but running from it can. Allow. Embrace. Let yourself feel. Let yourself heal.”

“We are looking at a society increasingly dependent on machines, yet decreasingly capable of making or even using them effectively.”
