Where the hell do I start from? I can’t fathom the idea that this book is going to be adapted to a TV SHOW. What do you mean that Xaden Riorson, the man himself, will be on my screen? No I can’t picture a single soul playing his character, let alone look wise too.

This book destroyed me and healed my soul all together. Listen, the plot is fine, just a bunch of college kids going through deadly trials to bond with dragons, hence, become riders and fight for their kingdom. It’s like the hunger games meets divergent, but add a spice to it. There’s rebellion, lives at stake, and my favorite thing to read in books, revolutions. Yeah, I devoured this book. Was the world building agonizingly slow? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. It is a fantasy novel after all, so it takes time to build a story like that.

Now that we got the main point aside, I wanna clarify a few things that pissed me off a little. Violet. I love her don’t get me wrong but she was so self absorbed during the first 25% of the book, it genuinely pissed me off how she kept mentioning her small size, istg I had to close the book and just BREATHE. But her character grew on me, I really really really love the fact that this woman is extraordinarily smart, she had Xaden whipped for just her brains. We love a smart woman that can bring a man to his knees. Another thing that pissed me off, the people who lied to me and told me this was an enemies to lovers. Just because two people are not fond with each other DOES NOT MAKE THEM ENEMIES. Like they were just thirsting over one another from the beginning of this book. That behavior is not for enemies, it’s two people who are denying their attraction to each other by making useless threats. Once again, not enemies. But hey, their banter is top notch so it covers the flaws.

I thought this book was gonna be a 4 stars for me, but the last 100 pages flipped the whole table around. Im so excited to read the next books and see where the characters go. I can confirm, lives were changed when Xaden Riorson was introduced. I can’t wait to read more about him and Violet. ...more "
