"What luck, the second book went on sale as soon as I finished the first one. The vibes are more fitting in this one, less odd cozy and more dread. I'm wondering if doing magic for humans amounts to drug use because it seems like Lore is getting vaguely addicted." — Dec 21, 2025 09:03AM

"Gonna put a pin in this one since I gave it to my partner to read. I got thrown off when I first saw this universe since Batman is cartoonishly buff. He literally looks like Broly but with a school boy anime protagonist haircut lol. Its a different Batman than usual but I like it so far. Its funny that he keeps stealing Alfred's stuff." — Nov 18, 2025 03:51PM

"Finally getting back into the series. This beginning part is sad. Neither Feyre or Nesta is wrong but they're not right either. I can't explain it well but they need better communication skills that are being hindered by trauma." — Nov 05, 2025 10:48AM

“Amber says, "I'm pretty sure sponsorship involves no weaseling. Or ferreting or mousing or anything else rodent related.”

“In 1944, dozens of these principaled objectors were transferred to Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary in Kansas. I'm proud of them, and I consider them just as heroic as those who fought on foreign battlefields. Though they responded in different ways -- caring for their families, fighting on the battlefield, or serving time for their principles -- all these Japanese Americans showed incredible courage and heroism. They proved that being American is not just for some people. They all made difficult choices to demonstrate their patriotism to this country, even when it rejected them.”

“These were emotions she didn't know how to carry. There was the insult of having her death celebrated when she wasn't even dead. When she was, in fact, amidst them all right now, and only out here because they'd sent killers to fail in her home.
But this? To be dying from the poison of those assassins, and while looking for emergency food to survive the injury, to be told by a drunk rich boy with inconvenient hair that she had never really existed? Now their songs made unkind sense to her. This revelry was a kind of fear, for hatred was the fear people let themselves enjoy.
Never had she imagined such a thing. Humans were so creative in their disappointments.”

“One cup exactly," I say quietly.
"Are you seriously whispering?" he asks.
I look away from my cup of cream just long enough to glare at him.
"Does the volume of someone's voice also affect how a recipe turns out?" he says.
I keep glaring at him.
"Should I sing to the cream?”

“As Bobby took his turn with a rock, Julian began the story where he left off. "The Macedonian commander looked around the hills where the Romans had his army cornered. There was no way to outflank them, nowhere to retreat."
"Did they surrender?" Bobby asked.
"Never," Julian said with conviction. "Death always before dishonor."
Julian paused as the words echoed in his mind. Those words had been engraved on his shield. As a commander, he had lived by them.
As a slave, he'd long forgotten them.”
