For those who don't know, these two books crossover and have many events in common, albeit from the perspective of a different character portraying different pieces of the overall story.

It was really cool getting to see the other side of these events from Tori's perspective as opposed to Robin's. However, because I already knew what was happening, the first part of the story wasn't as interesting to me. I'll also fully admit that part of my disappointment was me missing Zak. Don't get me wrong, I love Ezra, Aaron, and Kai, but Zak is by far my favorite.

I find it somewhat difficult to review these later entries in the series without giving spoilers for previous books. Maybe I should just assume that if you're reading this review, then you've already read the previous books in the series. However, I'd rather not mark my review as having spoilers, and I don't want to accidentally spoil something for someone who hasn't yet read this far into the series for whatever reason. So, I'll do my best to make this as spoiler free as possible.

The book starts out a little slow for me, with Tori being stuck at the Guild with everyone in crisis mode over the unbound demon on the loose. I just didn't really enjoy reading about things on the backend while the combat mythics were out fighting the actual battles. It makes sense given Tori's role as a bartender, but there was just too much time spent on her listening to details secondhand while worrying and making crappy sandwiches for her guild mates.

The most interesting part of this book, by far, was finally getting to learn more about Ezra's backstory. As far as the main guys go, Ezra is definitely my second favorite after Zak. I've been really curious about what's up with Ezra since he was introduced in the first book. Unfortunately, I found the backstory presented in this book somewhat disappointing. The weird thing is that, again, I can't fully put my finger on why. I guess maybe it's the fact that a lot of things were still left very vague. Perhaps it was the author's intention to still leave a little mystery in order to keep things interesting. Either way, it just felt like something was a bit lacking. Maybe I just can't help comparing every other character to how compelling Zak's story is.

I loved getting to see more interactions between Tori and Ezra and their growing relationship, whether that ends up being just friends or something more. I'm also really curious to see how the characters from Spellbound end up interacting with those from Demonized in the future. I'm looking forward to the next entry! ...more "
