I loved his personality, and his character development. I loved Rhiannon, too, she was such a good friend. There were so many cool characters. Ofc, I hated Jack and Dain , but the diversity of names and just the amount of characters was really cool. Dain sucked so bad. Like actually he made me so mad. The way he didn’t believe in her strength made me so annoyed at him. Tairn though? He was ones of my fav characters for sure. So cool!! He was so awesome and caring, and yet he still had an attitude. Andarana I loved too, and she was so caring and helpful. Sgaeyl, I liked her too. Liam was great too… Violet portrayed so many things, like of course, character development, and also bravery, change, willpower, control, and so much more. She’s such a marvelous main character. I want to mention, too, the enemies to lovers trope is SOO GOOD. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. My first book with that trope, and so far my fav. Like, he’s her enemy but he’s hot? And he wants to kill her? Sign me up pls 😘. But I love Xadens character development, and really just him in general.

Ok, let’s talk about the general plot. SO. UNIQUE! The amount of detail and thought that must’ve been put into the vast amount different places in The Continent? Crazy! The whole dragon-riders idea is so awesome and interesting. I know dragons may seem basic, but this book is NOT basic in any way. I loved the way that the author made certain things happening (for instance, the powers between the 4) connect and make sense. She made it so that it could contribute to later situations, and I rlly like that. The suspense and conflict caused by the war (ik there are many other conflicts, js thinking of the whole plot) was really interesting, and to see more and more things revealed about the plot flabbergasted me. Oh yeah, you wanna know what FLABBERGASTED me? That PLOT TWIST. Gosh. I was taken aback. I mean, there was more than one plot twist, but honestly, BOTH were crazy, considering how they happened at the same time. And at the END?? I mean, there were so so many, def more than js the ones I mentioned. And they were all crazy. Such an insane, twisting, and immensely intriguing plot .

Let’s talk word Choice. This will be short, I just love the way Rebecca Yarros utilizes metaphors in this book. It’s really interesting,and smart, the way she uses “in a heartbeat” so often, as that’s the thing Violet is fighting to keep the most. Really, everyone is. I made some analyzations, how its repeated how someone jaw may flex or tick, or how someone mouth will “curve” into a smirk or smile, or a corner of someone’s mouth “lifts”. It’s something that I liked to notice through out the book.

So, I’d like to talk authors craft, specifically tension, suspense, and conflict. Ngl, tears were streaming down my cheeks near the end. Anyway, this book had me on edge several times. It also had me something like “oooh!” When something happens. There are parts where I lose hope, where I become devastated, where I’m so scared that I was barely motivated to read in fear of what would happen next. But then, there were times where I was practically squealing with joy, kicking my feet, or jaw-dropped. And all of these emotions were purely controlled by how good the author used these techniques of tension, suspense, and many other things, like purposeful punctuation and blank space (and I’ll write your name). Heavy on the blank space (babyy) technique, as the author creates lines separated from other lines, making it stand out and more impactful. It definitely worked on me. Also, the imagery and description was amazing too. The ONLY. The ONLY complaint I have is that I had trouble imaging what the rider quadrant really looked like, with formation, flight field, and many other things, but yknow what? That’s the thing. That’s a ME problem. It’s not the books fault I suck at imagining places. If anything, it was even more unique, with all the diff places. Rebecca (or should I say Violet)did a great job describing the place, I just had trouble directly imagining where they’re going and things like that. Which brings me to the map. I am SO GRATEFUL that map was there. If it wasn’t there, I wouldn’t be able to know where ANYTHING is and I would be getting too confused. I mean, this book is just PHENOMENAL!

Fourth Wing has become my new favorite book. I have a very close second and third, but yet Fourth Wing just may be better. The plot, the characters, the plot twists, the authors craft moves, and so much more had me SO intrigued in the book. Plus, the author is Christian, which makes me admire the book even more. Technically, I read it in 3 days, but it’s only three because it passed midnight. I never went to sleep on day 2, so I feel like I could still possibly maybe say I finished it in two days. Just to humble myself and to be true to time, I’m gonna say three days. My point is, the book was insanely, insanely good and intriguing. I 1000000% recommend. Everyone needs to read this fantastic book. And yes, it was the most brutally addictive fantasy I’ve read, ever.

Edit: now that I’ve read many books after fourth wing, it just feels like fourth wing is, in a way, my home book. Not in like a cheesy/cliché way, but it just feels like that’s MY book, the OG. Same with iron flame. I just love them so much.
