To start off, I alpha read this book. I feel like I was apart of this books journey Okay, I’m deleting my original reviews because I figured it would be better to say everything in this one after not reading this book over and over again all in a row.

To start off, I alpha read this book. I feel like I was apart of this books journey in a way; however, that doesn’t affect my review, especially after reading it this last time. This book has domestic abuse, anxiety, and mental health. But it also has awkward moments and laugh out loud scenes. It has very strong character development as well as lovable and not so lovable characters.

I loved the journey that Maddie went on. Sure, she wasn’t the most likable character at times, especially when she was being mean to my Nate. However, her character has so much growth and it was truly amazing to see a book character heal the way she did from an abusive relationship. This book had so much depth to it and really showed how someone could get into an abusive relationship without really knowing it. It shows how you have to want to save yourself before others can really help you. I loved how this book had past and present chapters, but the past chapters were Maddie writing her story and her past. It was such an interesting way to show how she got to the point that she was at and what happened to her.

Now Nate, he is and always will be perfection. He is sweet and kind and amazing and patient. I loved how he cared about Maddie and for her safety. I loved how he never judged or rushed her with anything. And those grey sweatpants will forever be my kryptonite. Nate seriously makes this book worth reading because of how he is. Everyone deserves a Nate.

Carissa is such an amazing writer. This book had the perfect blend of keeping me wanting to read more, yet having those heavy topics where I needed a small break to process before diving back in. I will recommend this book to anyone and everyone who loves open door romance books. I highly suggest looking at the trigger warnings before starting though because they can be a lot for some people. There are seriously no words to describe how much I love this book and I can’t wait to read what Carissa writes next. ...more "
