"This audiobook makes me physically recoil why does everyone sound like they speak so nasaly and the way teenagers r written is just so... Unrealistic but maybe thats cus this was set in 2017 so i wouldn't know" — Aug 31, 2026 06:55AM

"I don't like how alba is presented as young, stupid and weak like its just so jarring like she doesnt try to do anything other than grovel and be sad and cry like ok sorry i get people can deal with trauma in different ways but this way is just too cliche, especially for a woman. I think she wouldve been a more compelling character if she just stood out and tried to make something else of herself besides her trauma" — Aug 30, 2026 04:18AM

"Its ok so far idk mrs fordes arrival seemed a bit underwhelming. At the start there was a lot of exposition and changing from flashback and present so i was a bit disoriented but now the story is becoming more straight forward and coherent. The hare is growing life i guess idk im not suuuuper impressed im just reading a story being told idk i dont feel immersed." — Aug 29, 2026 04:18AM

“One scene stayed with de Chauliac forever, obsessing him, even though, mercifully, the rest would blur; he saw a devil with wide black wings gripped by two angels, who drove it down and seemed to speak in its ears as they fell; they hit the bend of the Rhone, sending up a great, illuminated plume of water visible from Orange.
Two angels and a devil had tumbled into the water.
Three angels came up.
Forgiveness, then, was possible even for the worst.”
