The conscience is fact, it was always there. It has taken shape through our actions and emotions and holds true even if our actions and logic defy it. The acceptance of conscience as inherent fact is something I'm not sure I fully agree with. He goes on to separate conscience from primordial fear. I do not doubt that distinction of these things, but wonder how conscience may have bloomed from and taken on meaning through instinct.
